Clutch Start Cancel Switch. How does it work?

Here is what is found in the '99 T4R Manual.

So from my understanding, I don't have to push in the clutch to start the engine. But this means that it has to be in "N" right? So I would have to push in the clutch and in order to put it into gear... so whats the point?

In what situation would this be beneficial?

Maybe it works differently then I thought?
Your thoughts on/Experience with the Clutch Start Cancel Switch...

my understanding is with these things if it's what i think it is aka a high torque starter, you can be in first and simply just drive off when the engine cranks over just keep a little on the gas.

they have them for jeeps.

i'm just wondering if this is the same thing, i'm new to teh yota world and am unsure of all of the factory options, but a factory high torque starter would be amazing!!!

this is used for hardcore 4x4 stuff rock crawling and high angle stuff, when you stall you simply put it in 1st keep your hand on the brake and turn the key like an automatic the higher torque output of the starter over rides the compression ratio in your engine and gets it to turn over. (not the entire story but you get the idea)

I just use mine to warm up the beast in the winter--I can start the car without getting in, then run back inside and let the heater do its thing. Obviously, one must be very sure e-brake is on and tranny is in neutral. But yes, it will crank and go in gear especially in 4L. 4L in first it will crank and go straight up if it has traction.

This is mainly for use on an incline if you stall since you dont have three feet to gas clutch and brake all at the same time. 4LO in first, foot on brake and one on gas crank her up and you are off. Yes if you are using remote start you can press it on your way out of the vehice and then use remote to start following the same precautions of being in N with brake set.
