CO residents

I'm moving to CO in a few weeks, and just looking for some advice on where to go with the 4Runner. Looking for a couple different kinds of trails: ones for a stock T4R to get dirty and have fun, and ones that are pregnant wife and new born tolerant. Also, any recommendations on where to go to get work done: lift, LED light bar instal, sliders, etc. Thanks in advance for any info.

For NOCO, check out the funtreks guide to northern Colorado trails. They also have an SD cards that go into Garmin GPS units. That will at least get you a start and you can always explore from there. Welcome to CO. Some of the best scenery trails are in Rocky Mountain National Park which isn't too far.

I completely agree that the traildamage.com website is the best one out there. Definitely check that out. As far as some starter suggestions, try the Johnny Park road SE of Estes Park, and Pierson Park road in the same area. Up the Poudre river you have the Old Flowers roads which are pretty mellow, and Kelly Flats/Heart Attack hill which will give your machine a good test.

Further south you can do the east side of the Moffat Road, an old railroad grade which is extremely historic and scenic, but easy. In the same area is Kingston Peak, which is more challenging and has great scenery.

Further south off of I-70 is Loch Lomond and Bill Moore lakes.

Finally, a really stunning area is up Montezuma road behind Keystone. Pick a good day because you'll spend most of it above timberline with 100 mile views if the weather is clear.

Slee Offroad in Golden is the primo place for mods. They are good but not cheap. Visit their website - they put all their standard mods out there with prices, and also have some great tech articles. Addicted Offroad in Ft. Collins gets mixed reviews. He knows what he is doing but getting a schedule out of him appears to be impossible. I've heard positive things about Bullhide Offroad, but have no first hand knowledge.

I'm in Loveland, so pretty much right next door.

+99 for trail damage. Slee and Toytec are over by me. Addicted Offroad is by you. Front Range is somewhere in the forest. InSain is near Denver. Armorology and Heftyfab are down in the 'Springs, but really any shop can put a lift in. I've done a lot of stuff off I-70, but I'm never in the FoCo area. The Funtreks books are pretty good, I have them for Moab and southern colorado.

It's one of the most consistent indicators of a winter storm coming in from the north, when that smell blows in down here.

Tons of trails in Colorado. I'm a newb myself. Checkout toytec and rsg offroad. Toytec up north in Broomfield and rsg is in denver metro area.

Not 100% positive, but I think so. I talked to him about 6 months ago and that was the impression I got.

Slee is a first rate operation, for sure. I have a friend who had a 2007 4runner modified there a year or so ago with a OME lift, ARB locker, ARB bumper, winch, skid plates, lighting, etc. Slee did a beautiful job and the truck performs great. Wasn't cheap, though.

Welcome to Fort Collins! Its an excellent city.

I'd suggest Seven Mile Creek for something that isn't too hard but challenging enough for some 4low fun.

Both are off Hwy 14 up the Poudre Canyon (as are many others trails). Its a gorgeous drive and in a nutshell captures a lot of the areas local Fort Collins folk frequent. I'd suggest grabbing lunch at the Mishawaka on you way back neat old place with a deck on the river.

Take a look at RSG Offroad in Lakewood. They were recommended to me by the guys at Toytec. I dropped off my truck for a re-gear, sPod install, lights, cb radio and a full soundsystem upgrade (with a custom sub enclosure) and they did a fantastic job! Both Jason's are a pleasure to work with and know their stuff. Once they do a SAS on their own 4Runner and worked out the kinks, I'll have them do a SAS on my rig

Moody Hill is worth checking out! You don't want to run the quarry, but there are easy bypasses. It used to be much harder, but they took a road grader up there a year or so ago and flattened it out.

Also, some good stuff up in Pingree park. Some unmarked stuff around here can be fun.

Redfeather also has some great exploring! Welcome to CO- I'm in Ft. Collins and drive a Magnetic Gray 5th gen with RCI sliders and bronze Konig Six Shooters.

You keep mentioning SAS in this post but all I can think of is Stability Augmentation Systems SAS 1 and SAS 2 haha!

Sooo what do you actually mean by having them do a SAS?
