CO2 or nitrogen for tire fill tank.

I've read a couple threads on CO2 for tire reinflation, but I have a couple different questions. It seems to be a viable option vs a compressor.
I already own 20lb CO2 and nitrogen cylinders, which would you use?
Would you mount outside the vehicle (for trips only)?

I'd be wondering which tank cost more to refill, I've not heard of people airing up with nitrogen.

I have a 20 lb Co2 tank, aluminum not steel, full tank with regulator, hoses, fittings etc, it must be close to 50 lbs. I always carried my tank inside and I strapped and secured the hell out of it. Be real careful that you mount it securely wether inside or outside.

FWIW I ran Co2 for awhile and I eventually quit and just went with a decent air compressor. Co2 tank was heavy, had to be refilled, had to be well secured, and then when I aired up my tires , I'd end up waiting around for everybody else to air up because I'd be done so fast ....

Too fast, lol! How many "air ups would you say you got from one tank?
These rigs do seem to get heavy very quickly with all of this equipment. Especially on a vehicle that isn't overpowered in the first place.

Your tire size will dictate how many fill ups you get. Me personally with 37's, going from 15 psi to 35 psi, I'd get 4, maybe 5 fill ups from 1 tank...

Thank you V_man! Anyone else with experience or opinions?

I run a high-pressure air system from KSI Engineering. Home

I also have an ARB compressor but, I find the air tank much easier to use. I've never run out of air before I was able to find somewhere to top it off. Even on longer trips, the air tank has much more capacity than necessary unless you are running air tools or something beyond airing up tires. There are quite a few people who argue that the compressor has no capacity restrictions but I've seen several compressors fail so a mix of systems or some redundancy in the group is welcome. To more directly answer your question. I choose air over CO2 or nitrogen because it's simply easier to find filling stations and it's pretty cheap. No sense paying a premium for nitrogen that you are just going to let back out the next day when you air down again unless you're getting it for free.

I have used NO . the gas is very dense and stable.. since it has NO oxygen the inner tire rim does not get damaged from this gas..

temp changes will not change the pressures very much but atmosphere air does ..

race tracks use it because the tires get hot and the NO gas does not change pressures much..

costco has the NO .. a compressor filters out the other gases not 100% but in my temp/pressure testing it does work excellent..

may help the TMPS to last longer since no water in the rim..
