COB's '89 Supra Turbo

Donor car now... in a little while I'll have both subframes out and nothing but a shell left over.

And for purposes of show, here is the vehicle prior to being disassembled.

7MGTE out and ready to be disassembled.

This sucker's pretty clean underneath. Under the valve covers looks new, clean head to say the least. Pulled all 6 plugs and it is evident that the head gasket blew on cyl's 5 and 6, leaking oil into the combustion chamber. Hopefully no water leakage!

I was lucky to find this - a brand new OEM MKIII logo. Recently these were completely out of stock from Toyota, a local gentleman had it in his garage all these years after selling his MKIII.

Fixed the warped front lip. bracket bending plus additional support brackets. Pretty straight now.

I used to rock a Supra Turbo back in the 90's when I was in high school. Practically had to sell a nad to afford it. I remember the adjustable side bolsters being the coolest thing I had ever seen I blew a head gasket too, just like every other supra owner

I am also super jealous of your red runner. I thought about swapping a 7M into my '84 mini truck before I got a family and realized I need a back seat.

Wow in high school? That must have been awesome! By the looks of things, you've got a lot of 4 door vehicles now, what's adding a 1st gen? (A good idea.... do it, Haha) Then 7M-GTE?

CT-26 57 trim... got a little beat up in shipping, should hopefully be fine after switching the coolant lines and adjusting the actuator a bit.

Snagged this bad boy from the dealer, apparently the last one in stock!

Donor shell. Couldn't get anyone to come get it, anyone interested was way too far to make anything happen. Time to chop... need the space to get my trailer built. I got an A-frame welder lined up and the frame chopped.

Saw these on craigslist and had to get them. Not the best shape ever, but I want to paint them. I'm thinking Duplicolor white for an updated white package look.

Pictures when I picked them up from Rad Industries, Dan Burkett, Feb 2015, two months before I got the MKIV. These wheels came off of this car:

Took apart the combination switch because the wiper stalk was not staying put

You can see just what happened - Left is broken - the broken bit on the left side is where the metal ball and spring land when the windshield wipers are set to OFF. I have an additional combo switch hub (right) but the original turn signal stalk is not in the best shape, I'm going to search for a better combo switch as a whole.

TEMS is a suspension control system offered by toyota in the 80s and 90s. It has two manually selectable settings (sport and normal) which adjust the shock stiffness via rotating actuators on top of each shock tower. There is a third setting for Firm which activates automatically, but can be made into a manual control with a little wiring.

The later MKIII Turbos came with 16" 5 spokes that were all 16x7, maybe that's it. I haven't played Gran Turismo in too long.

Glad to see Toyota got the width right with the MKIV... and kept the bolt patterns the same

I saw it sitting outside a neighbors house and had to ask if it was for sale.

I am having a damn good day. I got a KILLER deal on a MKIV 94 Supra Turbo with 60k original miles. It's a little on the rough side, but 2JZ-GTE

Still debating on what to do with it... the car needs lots of attention, I'm thinking of just swapping the 2JZ to my 89, CARB legal MK3 2JZ-GTE would be quite nice...

I carfaxed the car today. The mileage is accurate, last reported odometer reading at 52,000 in 2011. The engine bay stocktastic, I have photos. I drove the car today and it feels awesome. The motor runs pretty nicely and it boosts pretty well. I parked it in my driveway just before leaving for work today.

between the wheels and other modifications, I could make a good amount on parts and then selling the Shell, of course using the motor for my 89.

Dude no way. You can't part that thing out, solid low mileage untouched motor....come on, peronally I'd keep that over the 89 any day...love those mkiv supras.

Since you've already put a lot into the mk3.... an engine swap may be the best route... I agree
