Code P0171 problem need help

After 5 months after buying this truck, I just got a P0171 engine code. 90,000 miles.

Code says- Lean Bank 1

The autozone guy got the code for me. Per him possible causes were: O2 sensor, spark plugs, or injectors.

Considering the mileage I needed the Plugs, and O2 sensor anyway. I cleared the code, and after a day of driving it came back again.

What next? Shoudl I go out and buy injectors?

Please help

ok think I found the problem- dirty MAF

Will clean tomorrow, I guess it pays to search...

Okay, I cleaned the sensor. And th echeck engine light keeps coming back on after clearing it. What next? With 90,000 miles should I just go ahead and buy a new MAF sensor?

How did you clean it and with what?

Other thing to do is run some injector cleaner, i have used redline's injector cleaner w/ great results. Beyond that you really need to either start throwing parts at it, or do a better diagnostic procedure. Oh and where did you get the o2 sensor toyota? or the generic auto parts store?

cleaning MAF sensor

I used CRC MAF cleaner- supposedly it is specifically made to clean these sensors, and not damage the delicate plastic and wire insulation.

Well, it may have cleaned the sensor, but I kept getting the code. Then I tested the sensor with a meter and it was not registering the correct reading.

So I bought a new one and after a couple days now and 150 miles and the ck light is not coming on anymore. Problem solved.

BTW, after changing the O2 sensor, spark plugs, wires, and now the MAF sensor I do feel the engine has a little more pep to it, it also starts a lot better.
