Coil boot

So I pulled cyl. # 5 coil pack to inspect the spark plug, and the boot stayed in the plug hole. After some tugging and pulling, the boot ripped off right where its seated on the spark plug. Its covering the plug so I cant even get a socket down there and try to get it out. I have some long needle nose pliers that I tried to use, but I can't grab a hold of any rubber material.
Any suggestions?

Can you use a long screwdriver to break the spark plug off at the base? Otherwise you're just going to keep trying to get the rubber off.

that will work if you are replacing the plugs or have no other choice.

otherwise you need some seriously skinny pliers or a strong pick. might even get lucky with a thin flat blade screwdriver (not too thin of course)

if I just stick a screwdriver down in there and pivot it to break the spark plug? Im not opposed to doing that, so long as it does in fact break below the rubber remnants. I was also thinking about sticking a pencil torch in there to melt the rubber a bit and then try to grab it with needle nose. Anyone think that's a bad idea? Obviously I'll get a shop vac to clean the bore up a bit before pulling the spark plug.

Stop. Don't do that.

Get a wire coat hanger and cut it. Bend into a hook, and sharpen the tip.

I have had to do this a couple times. More solid the hanger the better, of course.
