Coilover suspension that holds up well to road salt and winter

Here are my old 6112’s from 3 winters of use about 40k miles. First two years I sprayed film on it and they held up great. Third year I didn’t apply any.

Maybe our roads are not quite as bad or salted as often as MN like I would think they were. The other day after pressure washing my 5100's while washing the car they still look shiny and almost new even after almost 5 years(2/2018). a little bit of finish blemishes but 0 rust. Every wash for me is done using a pressure washer though and I pressure wash all cracks underneath and all wheel wells/suspension parts during every wash so that could help.

Maybe when its time for me to change them out there will be more options.

Currently considering the metaltech long travel rear with medium springs which i hope would compliment the 6112 heavy load fronts.

whichever springs length are correct for your 5160's...wanna make sure you take advantage of the full travel they (the shocks) give. some "long travel" (lol) rear setups require a taller bump stop limiting up travel:doh::ban:

Here are a couple pics of mine. Installed summer of 2020. First winter spent in Michigan and second in Colorado. About 60k miles on them. I don’t know if the coating on these have a clear coat or not, but that’s what appears to be bubbling at the top of the rear shocks, but no rust.

I’m admittedly bad at washing it. I’ll probably hit the drive through wash every other month and spray the undercarriage twice in the winter.

Yea I did notice that up travel would be more limited, so I am still on the fence about it the metaltech kit. But since there are no fast desert/dune type areas I offroad I am not sure if I would lose any capability.

I currently have 5100 fronts with OME 2883 springs on 2nd notch due to extra weight and 5100 rear with OME 2895e springs.

The best rear upgrade for me may just be 2896 springs and 5160's. the 6112's with heavy springs are already on the way.

I have not installed yet but just to update here is what I ended up with:

6112 front with heavy load springs and RSG aluminum tophats; I already have dirt king front UCA

rear dobinsons 677v springs (thanks [MENTION=98117]comtn4x4[/MENTION] !), 2.5" icon rear with resevoirs specd to metaltech extended travel, and metaltech extended bumstops. I also have the rear extended brake lines and skyjacker extended endlinks.
