Color-Matched?

So, I wanna get my door handles, mirrors and the tail gate handle/thing color matched. What all do I need to do, to make 'em like that? Once I get that done, it'd look so much better.

I can take em off, sandpaper it down & paint em. But that would take more time. I also thought about buying door handles and painting then like that, eventually the chrome ones, will eventually chip off on places.

Does Toyota sell colormatched parts, if so how expensive are they? Or would it be better to buy aftermarket and go that route? Thanks guys.

I believe the part number for the lift gate handle is 7680135380A1 in white, you can look around and find the color you're looking for based off that

Thanks.
I'm rethinking my choices just to maybe black everything out, can't decide what I should do.

Would black everything out look better or colormatched?

Colormatched looks better imo. Had chrome on my vehicle on my white T4R and bought new handles from the dealer (they were prepainted).

If I remember correctly all handles come prepainted.

Chrome isn't bad, but black looks worse, prepainted looks perfect.

I would do color matched if you can find the parts. The color code for titanium metallic is 1D4. - just so you know.

Painted to match would be the best looking. If you have any questions on cost and availability give your local dealer a call and speak to the parts department.

Thanks, I already did that. He said they're like $40 per handle & they're already pre painted to match. But he said, there was so many different packages/pages he didn't know which one to buy.

I guess he doesn't know or should I call 2 other Toyota dealers that live near me?

I've looked at other places online, can't find any really. Like that's just primed and ready to be painted and such not.

That seems odd. A good parts guy should use your vin to determine what handles to order. Id call a different dealer and see what they say. Might even give you a better deal. Who knows.

he cant use the vin on the OP's vehicle as the vin will come back to chrome handles for the sr5.

in your travels look for a sport, limited, urban runner etc. grab the vin and use that as they came with painted handles.

I'ld use eBay to find a VIN for the Limited version (for the year and color of your vehicle) and run it through the dealer to get the correct part numbers. There are sites than you find the numbers easily enough however.

The dealer can't use the VIN for the SR5 (although a good parts person can find the numbers easily enough without the correct VIN).

Paint to match will cost more than getting the prepainted handles from the dealer. Color may vary slightly but it will be very close to the original.

It's ridiculously expensive to paint to match parts like that by a body shop.

Agreed, the cheaper and easier way would be to get the handles prepainted and swap them

I have silver ones on my 05 limited 4runner. I'm looking for black ones, going for the 5th gen trail edition look. I have no idea how to take mine off but if i could get them off i'd trade you straight up for black ones ha.

I've been warning color matched handles for a while now. Mine are plastidipped currently but that's kinda coming off so I think I'm gonna buy the chrome door handle covers and strip them down and paint them body color and put them on over the existing door handles

I thought about plasti dipping mine. did you add a piece of tape to the back? How long have they lasted? When you did it did you pull the handle and wedge it open to plasti dip the inside or what?

Add a piece of tape where? Like mask it off? Yes I did and i recommend you do the same. They've lasted about a year and a half now, and no i just plasti dipped the part you can see because I knew it was just a temporary thing. They've held up quite well actually
