Tail gate rear handle cover - color matching?

Is the best affordable way to go about color matching the tail gates rear handle cover to sand it down and color match it with spray paint?

Or is there a cheaper or better way to go about it by replacing it with OEM/aftermarket part?

You can buy OEM replacements that are already color matched from the dealer/online but some of the colors show discontinued.

McGeorge Toyota, an online OEM parts center, lists them at $229.95 + shipping for the assembly.
