Cole is cool if you don't mind the occasional Gang Wars going on at York & Bruce Randolph :suspicious: It is undergoing gentrification but at a much slower rate than Highlands, and houses are a lot cheaper. But just don't expect to see a lot of yuppie moms walking strollers in the hood just yet--it still has a long way to go. Crime for the most part stays within the gangs, so random crimes against civilians are very rare. Nevertheless, my OBS Ford complete with multiple 'right-wing wackjob' stickers parked out front tends to keep the riff-raff away
I really like the direct route to Larimer and the RiNo scene. Jake's Bar (Downing & Larimer) is a great local spot. It is closer to us than anything on Colfax and just as good with better parking.
I lived in Capitol Hill for six years and still own a condo near Gov's Park. I think that is the best neighborhood for young, new transplants to really get immersed in the city. I still miss it but the need to upgrade to single-family home led me out.
Ever go to First Fridays at Beauty Bar? Great spot and good underground house music--if that's your thing.

Just got back from skiing Steamboat. Brrrrr....
Coldest skiing I've done in a few years, -18 degrees overnight, high of +5 degrees. Still had a great time and the 4Runner never failed me.
Sooo, Has anyone purchased/used the special Toyota block heater? Seems like a good idea for those -10 degree nights.

I hear you. I almost moved into the golden triangle, but the place was a bit out of my range. It definitely seems edgy (for lack of a better term) over there. I like it though!
I have been to Jake's a couple of times (their deep fried oreos are dangerously good), but I haven't been to Beauty Bar yet. I'll have to check it out. There are actually a few cool bars in your part of town and it's fun seeing the new stuff pop up here and there.

Did you notice a slower start at those temps? Never needed a block heater on a gas engine, especially a brand new one. Also, they are not always convenient if you're parked out in a lot at a resort. I think most cold-start problems can be solved by going to a lower viscosity oil. But again, the way the 5th gen roars to life like a dragon, I'm not worried.
Golden Triangle always strikes me as trying to pull off Denver's version of the UES Manhattan. To each his own, just not my thing. La Rumba is dope, though.

Yeah, that's why I said 'trying to be'. Lots of concrete and tall buildings. I think a lot of pro athletes live in the Golden Triangle, too. Probably a few buildings with full-time doormen. You won't find that in Cap Hill
It did crank an extra 10 seconds, then made some strange noises for about another 10 seconds. Never did get up to normal temp even after running for half hour. The block heater would be used at work and home mostly.

Yes! ive been averaging like 15-16 mpg on tanks since november. starting to go back up a bit but still sucks!

Yup im in the same boat mpg wise... glad im not the only one.
I've been getting 17-18 with 50/50 mixed driving. Got just a tad over 20 a few weeks ago going to Vail with the ski rack on.
But I totally agree, I took a significant(2-3 mpg) hit with this winter fuel.

Dammit is right. Well, at least it's not just me, but it's still stupid.
Does anyone know the driver behind "winter gas"? It seems like the hit on efficiency would outweigh any emissions improvements (which I don't think is a thing anyway).... and gas no longer has freezing problems. What gives?
