I shoveled the driveway... and by the time I finished it looked like I hadn't done anything. Lesson learned.![]()
aaaaaand the morning mountain snow report, courtesy of my brother, who I hate so very, very much right now.
So how do you like the swing in temps bofa? I'm sure you knew it happened but now that you've experienced it's quite a change from FL, huh.
Sunuva. Where was that? I have been agro all day cause the snow storm didn't time out well for me. It's still early season though, right?! RIGHT?! I need more snow in my life.
I really don't mind it.. but to be fair, I work from home so if I go out in it, it's by choice. My wife on the other hand... But she seems to be having fun and putting the 4WD to good use. The dogs love it.
I really enjoy the colder temps though - much more than the miserable humidity in FL. The only trouble I've really had adjusting is the dry air. I ordered a couple of humidifiers that should be here today and am hoping that fixes it. It's been wreaking havoc on my sinuses in the mornings and my hands are cracking like crazy.
Good to see it's not an issue, had a friend from FL who couldn't deal with it and went back. My son woke every morning to a bloody nose from the lack of humidity when we moved here. a big pot on low boil would help until you get humidifiers. An odd tip from my doc is to use olive oil inside your nose to prevent dryness, it works.
Have one added to your furnace in the new place, seems pretty much mandatory though my wife hates it. I guess we're accustomed now, so much so the humidity of the Midwest feels oppressive now.![]()
^ incidentally, olive oil is great for conditioning leather around here. But in regards to the weather; there is no such thing as bad weather- just bad clothing choices.
I'm also shopping snow blowers... my wife wanted to shovel the driveway again tonight and came in an hour later telling me to just order one.
Single stage Toro is my favorite, got me through MN winters just fine. Be warned, you might not use it much at all especially if your new house faces south.
Furnace humidifiers are an easy add-on, Home Depot @ $100 or so.
I've been trying to avoid lawn equip that requires gas, oil, and mechanical maintenance. I know it sounds a bit silly - but it's been working out. Li-Ion edger/trimmer, reel mower, and now I gotta figure out the snow blower. The Li-Ion thing seems neat but I'm curious if its powerful enough. I'm not a big fan of running extension cords either.
I believe we will be facing North so it should see some decent use. I'll check out the humidifiers.
We use an electric snowblower to take care of a few properties we manage. Its light and easy to carry, and has a ridiculous amount of torque. No batteries, just plug and play with extension cords. Would definitely recommend going that route. Pretty sure ours is an older model Toro, but these new ones look pretty neat:
