I moved to Colorado back in January 2014 from Florida and its a fun place to live for sure, so many things to do for cheap vs Florida, I love it here, the only down fall is the lack of roads and to many liberal laws, but all in all it will change for the better once we transplants fix it all up.

The transplants are the ones that fvcked up CO in the first place. I was born and raised here- it was a nice western red state with a small metro city and slow growth and good people until so many dicks from out of state rushed here and brought their liberal laws with them and clogged the roads up good.

The CO I know is no more. It's more like Cali 2.0 no a days. It sucks big time.

How I know you aren't from CO- you plaster your vehicle with CO flag themed stickers and wear CO flag themed shirts, and complain about how Colorado isn't like where you came from- the more of those CO flag themed items you have the less likely it is you're from here.

I'm sick of all the idiots moving here. Not that everyone who moved here is an idiot- but most are. It's trendy right now. It sucks donkey balls to watch your state get overrun by morons who change it into the hell hole's they left.

I agree, the last 5-10 years really has seen the most change and the folks moving here have more tried to turn this place into what they left rather than assimilate into the traditional western USA/CO way of life.

I realize my post will likely come off as kind of being a dick and painting with a broad brush- it's because of my frustration with the situation and my passion for my home.

I was born here, I absolutely love my state, LOVE IT! What it has become is scary. I never wanted to leave here, whenever I even travel away for a few days and come back I realize how shitty most other places are- but I'm afraid I may have to jump ship if it keeps trending the way it is. That makes me angry beyond words. It feels like I am being forced out of my home.

I know a lot of folks who moved here in the eighties form the mid west and more recently from a lot of places, mostly Cali and Texas. While most of them are good people, I know some who are flat out morons, and they are the ones getting involved in local politics and effing everything up.

Mag capacity limits/bans? Universal background checks? and now Amendment-69 for single payer health care on the ballot? It's madness! Fvcking absolute nightmarish madness.

This is not what Coloradoan's stand for. Heck most of the natives have jumped ship seeing the writing on the walls, and how expensive everything has gotten.

Every day I hear some idiot Kommiefornian complain about how there aren't enough farmers markets here, and how there isn't a beach for them to enjoy, how the cost of license plate/registration is so expensive compared to where we used to live, the laws here are so conservative, the people outside of Denver are such hicks, etc, etc, etc. And then in the same sentence say how cheap everything is compared to Cali, like they bought the same size house here for 1/2 what they paid there.

Well guess what, you are making me pay double for that same house as what I would be paying, you are changing the laws to the ones that effed up your home state, you know- the one you left because the taxes were so high and property was through the roof and the crime rate was so high and the state government was all up in your shit- those people are locusts, a plague, a vile cancer who find a host, destroy it and move on to the next trendy spot to **** up.

I am fed up with it. My state is being taken over by idiots who ruined there's and now come here to greener pastures to graze it to the ground.

I am in no way saying everyone coming here is like this, it's just more than enough of them are, and it is getting bad. They bring higher crime rates and all of the politics of the places those politics screwed up already. Murder, robbery and burglary are through the roof here because of the "travelers" (Homeless twenty something pieces of shit! But let's not hurt their feelings, let's call them "travelers".) that move here for pot.

People like Michael Bloomberg push millions of dollars on local campaigns to turn the state Blue and push legislation on the public that it doesn't want and doesn't need.

Sure we get a few recalls and a few people wake up, but the machine chugs along grinding us up in the gears year by year.


I can't tell you how inconsiderate all these new folks are at campsites and in national parks, at red rocks, etc. My god, the amount of trash being left behind is INSANE!

I have to venture further and further out just to be left alone in the wilderness and not deal with a bunch of Gucci hotel campers complaining about the wilderness being icky...

I go to a brewery and hear all the Cali fvcktards say how the brewery's in Cali are so much better! GO BACK!

So in conclusion, yes, the older gen's of transplants were better overall and wanted to embrace the lifestyle here, not all of them, but most. And the younger newer trend driven Kommiefornia, Texas, New Yorkistan douches are worse overall and are changing this place at the speed of light to some retarded version of the homes they fvcked up and left.

I need to go on a hike and then go to the range to relieve some stress now.

Sorry for the rant, it's just really bothering me. It's really hard to see your home being burnt to the ground.

I love CO. But I hate Denver.

I moved to CO (from TN) 3 years ago with my gf who got into Med School out here. My gf applied (and got in) to a lot of schools, but CO just seemed like a good fit. We had never been to Denver, but had heard great things. (Plus, I'm a solid snowboarder).

However, I wasn't in CO for more than a month before I knew that this city was past capacity and it was a mistake moving here. The infrastructure is an absolute joke. Especially the highway system. You have 90% of the state's population living between Ft Collins>Denver>Colorado Springs... And I-25 is the only North/South option? I've never seen a city so unprepared for growth. Instead of building lanes themselves, they sell the highway shoulders to the Chinese and make it a toll lane. And I-70 to the mountains on weekends is a nightmare both in the summer and (worse) in the winter.

The housing market here is awful. We attempted to rent a house when we first moved here. Every "open house" we attended was met with close to 100 applicants/ hour. I have a good, government job, and my gf obviously has student loans, so we are clearly solid candidates to rent a small 2 bedroom house, but we were competing with large families for houses that I thought were almost too small for just me and the gf. But I guess 4 or 5 incomes are better than 2.

I have never been so disappointed with a city. CO is a great state. But Denver has been taken over by the CA lib-tards. And they are spreading. I moved to Denver to live IN DENVER. But these CA transplants are trying to change Denver into a "Little LA"... and it is ruining the whole state.

I feel the pain of the "Natives" here. My gf (now fiancée) and I will only be here for another 9 month. Then we move to wherever she gets into residency. I will miss the mountains and snow. But I will not miss Denver.

The problem is that every other state out of state people are very welcomed but Colorado lacks this, not sure why maybe the cali people ruined it but back in Florida I never hear complaints, when i first got here I always got weird looks. Im trying to make friends here but its a challenge in colorado

CO Natives lack this because of inconsiderate transplants. Also, the entire state of Florida has never had the population boom that just Denver has had in the past 5 years.

For the record, making friends here was never hard for me. Maybe you're just an unlikable guy?

Moved here as a youngster in 1969, still a lot of "real CO" remaining back then but it was already changing demographically. Heard a lot of the same, legitimate criticisms in the late 70's...same s***...different generation complaining.

Left in 84' when I joined the service and it took me ~27 years to "get back home" and reestablish residency. Has it changed? Yes. For the worse? Absolutely. But...as with many of the members here I've lived-in and been exposed to a lot of locales, cultures, and populations across the globe and while there's a lot of great places...there is a whole lot more s*** out there when compared to CO in its current version but…

I don't like what I see..at all...CO is not immune to the same social, political and economic [insert any topic of measure or debate] decay ravaging the country as a whole, particularly the urban-dense corridors. An ever-increasing selfish, over-indulgent population [of all races] bent on exploiting leftist policies and a judicial quagmire at the federal/state/local levels that thwarts the application of common-sense across the full-spectrum of law. Couple that with populations/people “doing what they do,” chasing opportunity, prosperity and an improved lot in life and it translates to the failure(s) we’re experiencing in this once great state. This story-line has been written ad nauseum since the dawn of man, another rise-n-fall, we’re just too ignorant, toxic and again selfish, as a population en masse to course correct. I respect people at the individual-level if earned/deserved but in general, I’m embarrassed by the greater percentage of our citizenry across the country and here in CO and our inability make great what we have, a lost opportunity, self-imposed, a damn shame to be a part of it.

Blow-out Denver-metro’s base of transients and socialist Boulder’s ‘completely-f*****-in-the-head idiocy’ and you have a demographic across the state that regardless of race, political persuasion, educational level, economic position, etc. still exhibits the characteristics, behaviors, good judgement and rugged-individualism prized by “true natives.”

I’m undecided if I’ll stay and fight as I step out of the work-force in another ~9 years, hard decision for me because this is [was] always “my home” and I’m well-positioned to remain after decades of selling my soul to get where I am in life. I control my destiny and I’ll not resign myself to being a subject of a state that allows itself to morph into a socioeconomic, wanna-be-PC cesspool as witnessed in other parts of the country.

Sounding dire; “who knows, maybe great men from all walks of life will once again stand together and bring the state and country back to a point of pride. Most likely we’ll end-up with dead-bodies on the streets. I’m open to either as a next-step, let’s just get on with it one way or the other.”

After all that prattling, when I’m out on the trails on my MTB, on my skis, slammin’ some trout in a back-country honey-hole or trail-riding anywhere in the state in my 4Runner all that negative s*** above “disappears!”

has anyone driven the road in Marble out to the crystal mill? I've been getting mixed answers on the road. I've seen everything from only a 5/10 to its way sketchy. I consider myself a very good driver but I am not a very experienced off roader and only have a slightly modified 4Runner. FJ Springs Toytec spacer, 275/65/18 Goodyear wranglers. I am most concerned about narrowness and having clearance. is it better/quicker to just park and walk the 4 miles or can I make it.
also, I plan on being there at night and camping. are there lots of places to park at the end of the road to car camp or set up a tent in case any other people show up

I consider myself a very good driver but I am not a very experienced off roader and only have a slightly modified 4Runner. FJ Springs Toytec spacer, 275/65/18 Goodyear wranglers. I am most concerned about narrowness and having clearance. is it better/quicker to just park and walk the 4 miles or can I make it.

You'll be fine in your rig. It can be sketch in areas, but overall it's nothing too crazy- good tire placement and patience will get you through.

Plenty of places to camp.

It's a bit rough but there's absolutely nothing challenging about it. If you continue on past Crystal you'll eventually get to the Punchbowl which is moderately challenging. Our 4-wheel group in Crested Butte does the Marble/Lead King/Crystal/Punchbowl/Schofield Pass loop a couple of times each summer/fall. We did it Monday before last. Everything was in good shape (relatively speaking).

thanks for the updated report. reassurance then. I found a blog where they posted pics (3 years ago) of the road and it does look narrow in some spots. those spots I don't know what happens if someone is coming down, theres no room to pass each other.
is it only 4 or 6 miles to the mill.

There are PLENTY of places to pass between Marble and Crystal. I wouldn't be overly concerned about it. Remember that the person heading uphill has the right of way; not that it will mean much since a good number of the people that go to Crystal from Marble have zero idea of what proper trail etiquette is.
