Colorado Trail Grizzly Lake

I was with some Jeeps today and we tried to run Grizzly Lake. First was a 2010 Rubicon, stock with mud terrain tires. After several attempts he got hung up and we pulled him off with another jeep.

Then I tried with My 2005. No dice, I got hung up too. Due to the steep approach and me having the factory bumper I had to come in at an angle and that seemed to be a problem.

Have any of you folks run Grizzly Lake?

I think if I had a rear locker I would have made it.

I have a target on this trail. There will need to be some changes to the 4Runner but gee, that's ok.

That 'gatekeeper' is tough, I never made it either even with a rear locker but did split the steel front bumper on my old truck. I don't think I'll be trying it with the 4Runner. The only time I saw it beat was by Jeeps on 35's and a whole lot of rocks stacked. The creek wetting everything sure doesn't help.

I do need bigger tires, still running the stock 265 size. They are a decent all terrain and were new when I bought the 4Runner so I cant justify $700 for a set of 285 Silent Armors. Maybe next year.

I got real close to getting over the top but 1 rock kept hanging us up. It bent the crap out of my transfer skid and my factory gas skid is all messed up. Glad it was there though.
I sent Josh an email for a price on one of his gas tank skids.

Sweet thanks for the tip. I'm reading the trail description, sounds legit, at least to a novice like me.
