Thats going to be hard to keep aligned just so you know

I don't know how hard it will be to keep it aligned, but I guarantee you will buy yourself some new shocks after driving with that specific lift setup on old oem shocks. Especially unloaded. The 891's are really stiff, and the big ole 3" spacer lift in front makes it ride bad too.
BUT. New shocks will help all that out a lot. Hopefully it works out for you on your trip, but don't expect too much quality in your ride. If it's anything nicer than "pretty bad" I'll be surprised. Sorry for the downer.

I have the same set up and have for 6-8 months now. No issues at all with alignment. Only difference is I have new shocks. Still OEM but new none-the-less.
As far as stiffness and ride quality with the 891 I noticed it for a day and then got used to it. I don't even think about it. I guess it all depends on what you are used to driving. If you are used to driving a Lexus than yes it's going to be rough. I have always had SUV's and my other ride is an F-250 so no... The 891's are not a rough ride. True is that when you put a couple hundred lbs in the cargo area it does ride slightly nicer.
Maybe I'm in the minority but I want my rig to preform the best when it's loaded down and I am asking the most out of it. I don't want 4 people and 300 lbs of gear weighting my back end down causing my clearance to suffer. I don't really understand the people who get the 890's.
I agree you will want new shocks before too much longer, but if you can't afford it you spent your money on the right stuff.

Just got back from all over Colorado and Utah. Among other places, loved the going up section of Cinnamon pass heading towards Animas Forks. Also did California, Corkscrew, Engineer and Red Mountain. Didn't do Mineral Creek (Ouray to Engineer) this year though it's one of my favorites in that area. Don't think I'd want to do Red Mountain or Corkscrew if they were wet but then, I've not tried it.
We camped just outside the no camp zone at Animas Forks in an established site. Look for the Perseids if you're there mid August....

Summer = afternoon storms. Temps were great, got into the 40's at night some places. Pleasant to mildly chilly during the day in CO, pending on the altitude/area. Have woken up to heavy frost on the tent at Hermosa Creek this time of year on previous trips.

Tires? You mean larger? My BFG AT's are next to new, 265-17 or whatever I like them well enough. Not that some 285 MT's wouldn't be sweeet.
I do have a set of All Pro spacers at home, for some reason I got the 1.5"...hopefully they will work with this lift if not I can pay a restock fee and get the 1.25's that I probably should have bought in the first place.

Well you probably don't need new tires then. I thought you were still running stock size. I doubt you need the wheel spacers at all unless you just want a wider stance. If you aren't rubbing now, adding a lift will not create rubbing. I look forward to seeing the lift installed. You don't have much time until you trip right?

hoping to have this installed late next week...i leave 9/1.
wrote out a tentative itinerary yesterday, still plan to go over it with my dad and his experience in multiple trips out there.
some of the passes i think i'll do, tincup, hancock, cinnnamon, engineer, california gulch, corkscrew gulch, hurricane, black bear, imogene, italian creek/reno divide, taylor pass..
can't wait!

Good decision! My new Rough Country Nitro 9000's arrived today from Wheeler's. I just got the rear's, since I'm using the TRD Tundra front suspension setup. I plan to cut the old shocks off, hopefully making the install process much easier and quicker.

That's awesome about the storage box! That thing was sweet. Best of luck to you with the install. Be sure and take before and after pictures and don't forget that alignment.

Back in the early '80's I used to rent jeeps in Telluride. The most essential thing to take with you would be a good pair of hiking boots which have been broken in and plenty of trail mix:happens:.
