She wasnt stock for long .. first thing i did was put a glass pack on it and it sounded great. I don't have any pics of the process

Got new firestone destination A/T tires. 265/75/16. This is what i have for now i had to get rid of those dinky ones that were on when i got it. I didnt have the money at the time to get much more then the destinations because i have to save some money for college, but as soon as i get some spare change im getting 305's i think..

I decided to take the running boards off

I hated the stock wheels and painted them with plasti-dip which held up really well for my first time dipping. This was just temporary until i got new wheels.

I installed 4 kc headlights. (2 floods, and 2 spot lights) I just installed them right to the stock bumper.. Yeah not my best idea, but an armor bumper is definitely something that im trying to save up for so its alright.

I didnt do any mods to my 4runner for a while because i was in the middle of football season but now that i have more time ive been working on it more and i ordered a 3 inch suspension lift and installed it right after it came because i couldnt resist the urge. I also painted the front and back bumper and the fender flares black. I think it looks pretty good:pimp:

I decided to take all the plasti dip off my wheels and paint it with rustoleum wheel paint to make it look more glossy instead of the matte black for a change.

I took these photos today because i needed some update pictures of the 4runner and there was snow on the ground so i guessed it would make for some good picture taking:rockon:

I just ordered some leds for my interior and im going to be changing all of the green leds that are stock to red. Im going to start taking a lot more pictures.. I just found this site recently and im going to be doing a lot of moding and updates to my 4runner so ill take more pictures for my thread. Next on my list are new wheels and tires. I need some beefier tires and new wheels to make it look like its not stock. I was thinking of getting some pro comp wheels and goodyear duratracs.

I just got my leds in the mail today and installed them. I love the new leds in my gauge cluster they really stand out. They were really easy to install but at the same time they were kind of annoying as well... To install them i took off some trimming and paneling around the steering column and around the gauges to where i could get to the gauges easily. once you have the paneling off you unscrew the 4 screws that are holding the gauge cluster into the dash. At this point, lower your steering wheel as low as it will go to give you some more room to work with. You will obviously have to disconnect all the electrical harnesses that are hooked to the gauge cluster, just press on the tab and they will come out with a little pull. When you have all the harnesses disconnected wiggle the cluster out so you can get to the back where all the lights are. (removing all the harnesses will reset your mileage for this take of gas)
This is what it looks like with the cluster out of the 4runner
e5y3a4eh.jpg~original

Once you have it out you will turn it over to the back where all the leds show. I removed the hard plastic that covers the circuit board(this is optional but it makes changing some of the lights so much easier). Depending on what year of 4runner you have you will need certain bulbs for your year. For my 99 i needed 7 #74 bulbs and 3 #24 bulbs. The 24's are for the the speedometer and for the rpms and the 74's are for all the other little lights and accessories on the cluster.(24's are the larger ones. To take the lights out you need to twist the wedge bases left and they will become loose. When you take them out just remember where you took if from and take some needle nose pliers and pull out the original bulb. Then take the correct bulb size and push it back in(you will hear a click). The bulbs do have a polarity to them so there is a certain way to push them in but nothing i could see that stood out. So if you know how to tell the difference in led polarity please leave a comment. This is why i said it was kind of annoying because some of my lights didnt work at first because i didnt have the right polarity. After the new led is pushed in put the wedge base back in. After youre done put the cover back over the circuit board and plug all the harnesses back into your cluster. This is how you can see if you have the wrong polarity in some of your leds. If only half of your lights work identify which ones arent working and flip the led around. After you fixed it make sure all of your trimming is back on properly and enjoy your new look(:

I had a couple of bulbs left so i put them in my climate control and in my ash tray. The ash tray looks pretty cool.

securedownload28_zps7453c013.jpg~original

These are the 4 bulbs i changed on the climate control.
securedownload26_zpsc9965dd6.jpg~original

This is what it looks like now... The one side of the climate control knobs werent working and i wasnt sure why and while i was driving i decided to hit it a couples times because it was making me a little angry because it looked so uneven and it decided to work after i gave it a good smack. I guess something was just loose lol.

Great start to your build and thats definitely a new paint scheme with just the fender being black on a limited.

If have to say you needed a lift. My rear end looked just as bad.

Dude. You are on a great path with this build. I bet your happy with it and excited! Looks good!!!

Thanks man. Yeah i definitely needed a lift. I love it and it doesn't handle any differently which is good because i know they can make it a little top heavy. Now i just need some bigger tires!

This is just an overview of the interior and all the light changes.. And that little red white and blue light you see on the passenger side is something i whipped up in my electronics class.. I had some time to waste and just put it together to see what it looked like. It wouldnt look that bad if i had somewhere to mount it.. I was thinking somewhere under the glove box so it will shine on the floor. idk.. And it blinks and pulsates as well which i thought was pretty neat. Its my homemade led strips.. lol kind i just have to make another so it'll look more even. I might just end up taking it out idk!

okay so its been a while, but ive done a lot. I bought new duratracs from tirediscount.com and a long with new tires i bought new wheels. I got pro comp steel rims. They look very good and Im almost positive i only spent 80 dollars on each. I figured since i was on a spending spree i may as well buy wheel spacers. I got 1.25" spacers.

These were sitting in my garage when i got home and it only took them 3 days to get here so i was extremely pleased.

My spacers got here the day after i got my tires. So, all i was waiting on was my wheels.

A couple days when by and still no pro comps.... I checked my email to see if i missed the email that said they were shipped.. There was still on email. So i got my order number and checked on the status and it turns out they were never even processed. I called to see what was up with that and to make a long story short, they only had 3 of the wheels in stock and they were waiting for the 4th one to come in. I asked how long that would take and they said 7 weeks.... Not to mention i got rushed shipping :frusty: So i had to cancel from them and order somewhere else. So i had one hell of the time getting my wheels. It ended up taking like 3 weeks for my wheels to get here and it took another 2 for them to refund me my money. So i just wanted to get them on.

We just got our local shop to mount the tires on the wheels and we were going to put the wheels on the 4runner to reduce the labor cost.

There was some rubbing and i got good enough so rubbing is non existent or very little

The first thing i had to do was try out the new tires of course. So on a rainy me and my friend mike went on the trials for a little bit. Got some mud good and caked on the bottom of my runner.

Luckily she only needed new spark plugs

Thanks bro ive always wanted duratracs. they just look good. I like your fender flares and door panels.. ive been meaning to do the door panels with either plasti dip or rustoleum

Thanks, the dark and light paint make a really nice contrast on these trucks. I'm still beating myself up a bit for not waiting an extra day to get the duratracs over the bf goodrich at's. What did you use to paint your flares?

I painted them with plasti dip first to see if i liked it and after i decided i liked it to took all the plasti dip off then i painted them with rustoleum. I used 3 coats

Also clean your maf, mine always throws codes after out on the trails and a quick clean up clears those out

I have the deckplate mod and thats the first thing i checked when i got the check engine light.. I almost knew immediately that it wasnt my air intake because it was struggling to get up hill and sputtering like it was going to stall out.. Also, when it was idling really rough and would almost stall out then shoot up to 2,000 rpm which i knew wasnt good. It just acted like there was no power My grandpa is a diesel mechanic so he knew what was wrong and he said spark plugs so i got new ones and it runs perfectly now.

I just ordered a spectre cold air intake kit today from summit racing and ordered new kicker front door speakers from crutchfield. They were starting to slap and i couldnt stand it any longer. Now i just have to find the time to install everything once i get it. Even though it shouldnt take me long at all
