After searching online for years for the missing 1st and 2nd gen sales numbers from 1984 to 1993, I finally broke down and emailed Toyota Corporate yesterday. They responded this morning with the missing years.

So I present to you, the complete listing of sales numbers 1984-Present:

Pretty crazy to see how low the last year of the 4th gen was.

And it really makes sense why the 5th gen has gone on so long. Look at those numbers... why change while it’s selling like that?
