Computer under the truck?

Dumb question, while crawling around I noticed what looks like a little controller bolted driver side behind the rear axle just kind of hanging out off the side of the frame. What the heck is it? Do I need to be concerned about water crossings with it?

You may be looking at the charcoal canister. It is fully sealed.

Seems to have about 8 wires going into it all on one side.

Lacking a photo and looking at my T4R in the area you said it's a junction box. Yes, Toyota makes them waterproof.

The trailer plug? A picture would help out here.

Yep, photo or size would help.
The charcoal canister has wires and tubes running into it, all on one side.
You could also google charcoal canister or trailer connector and let us know if that is it.

Haha definitely not the trailer plug. I'll see if I can snap a picture.

You might be looking at the EVAP canister. If it is above the spare tire area.. that is what it is. If it it is on the frame and pretty small like you described, it is the fuel pump ECU. Nothing to worry about in terms of water....

Fuel pump regulator was my first guess. Not a concern.
