Conceal Handgun...What do you carry?

In california all of the liberals think that people are too stupid to carry firearms. They think only criminals and police should carry them.
So with that logic in mind, if I call the cops because my house is getting broken into the police should arrive just on time to put a tag on my toe.

I've also seen many GSWs on my rotations. That's what led me to carry. Several of my attendings and collegues carried. I'm sure many more do who don't say anything about it. I don't tell anyone I know.

Yup, many of my colleagues carry...and have been pushing me to carry for a long time.

Cool. BTW, you can learn more about the law, restrictions, and purpose of the CHL by going to the class. I learned quite a bit by going to the class.

Absolutely, the class was outstanding. Probably the best part of the whole CHL experience in my opinion, well, except maybe the practice shooting .

I had a spare tire jacked from my work parking lot, and I work in a St. Paul suburburban campus my employer controls. Nothing like Miami and/or Houston. Goes to show that coming/going from work can be dangerous.

My brother is a respratory therapist at an urban hospital. He runs all over the place but has commented that the ER can be downright nasty. With all the people he looks at with holes in the lungs from various caliber bullets, he has been scared into getting a permit as well, and keep it in his car in the parking lot. He also carries one of those mace cartridges that fit on a key ring with him at all times.

You just never know.

Some of us here have actually had to live by this simple statement. I commend anyone who takes the time to learn some form of self defense and would not criticize any method they decide to use. You should carry whatever you can effectively use. Unfortunately in New Jersey the only way you carry (legally) is by being active or retired law enforcement. If you know a way around this please tell me because I need an excuse to drop $700 on a Sig P229 .40 cal!

I have had my CHL for about 6 months now. I got it a few months after my 21st birthday. I own two handguns; a Glock 22 (.40 S&W) and a Sig Sauer P230SL (.380). The Glock is tough to conceal and the Sig is a piece of cake.

It's been a while since I posted but what do I find when I come back, a topic about one of my other favorite hobbies What's interesting is that I actually ran into a member of this forum on a gun related forum

Anyways I carry a Springfield EMP regularly:

My other carry rig is a Springfield XD 45 Compact. 10rd mag for better concealability and the 13 rounder as a reload.

Like others that carry on a regular basis, I carry because I can't carry a cop. When the average 911 response time is in the minutes, that is a life time when your life or the life of your loved ones is in danger. The cops arrive just in time to take pictures of your dead body and put a chalk outline.

In VA, you are not allowed to CC in a restaurant that serves alcohol, but since there are no laws about OC I regularly OC in those restaruants and I have had no issues with that form of carry either. To tell you the truth, most people don't even realize what you have on your hip. In VA, it is legal to OC pretty much anywhere in the state and it is a right pre-empted by the state constitution. I have ran errands while OC and they've been non-events.

I don't live in a bad neighborhood, but it's also not the greatest and I understand that crime happens anywhere. My area has a local paper that publishes a section called "Police Blotter" online. I'm always amazed at all the crazy crimes that are committed in my zip code or sometimes I recognize the street name in the story. I no longer live my life with "blinders" on.

During my training class my instructor told us that once you strap your weapon on, you leave your ego behind. You avoid situations where you may have to use your weapon. I find myself being a less aggressive drive and just all around more nice as I don't want to get involved in a confrontation. There is a saying that goes "An armed society is a polite society" and sure enough it's true IMO.

What holsters do you guys use? I've been using a Comptac CTAC and it's pretty good, but I want to switch to a full leather one. My buddy raves about his Milt Sparks Versa Max II, but it's a really long wait time for one.

Being a former employee of Springfield Armory, I have had several S.A. pistols. I think that even if I wasn't a former employee, I would still carry a Springfield XD 45 Compact.

Unfortunately the wife gets freaked out when I've got it, or any other weapons with when we go somewhere...

I have been using Milt Sparks Summer Special models for my Glock 23 and Ruger SP101 for several years now. There is no one ideal holster for all carry conditions, but IMO the IWB fits the bill most of the time.

Milt Sparks is one of the top-of-the-line holster makers and well worth the wait. You can't go wrong with any of their models.

UPDATE

Well, unfortunately, i have had horrible luck with my Kahr PM9. It has been back to the manufacturer three times. My Kahr has had feeding issues (ammo fails to feed onto barrel ramp)...unresolved by the manufacturer. In addition, for whatever reason, Kahr magazines are pure crap and are failing repeatedly. Again, no solution from Kahr.

After continuing to jam after the 3rd manufacturer visit, i gave up and went to my local dealer to trade it in. This is what i got:

I carry Glock 27 most often, other depending on what I'm wearing and what activities I engage in.

I agree 100% also. There are a lot of things that can go wrong if you pull your gun out at the wrong situation.
