Conceal Handgun...What do you carry?

Sig and 9MM
Sigs are great, reliable firearms, although I do not care for double action semis and tend to prefer Glock and customized 1911 models since they tend to sit a bit lower in my hand and enable faster target acquisition with subsequent shots.
While certainly not my favorite caliber, good shot placement with the appropriate 9mm load will get the job done.

Much to be said for cheap ammo! Regardless of caliber and gun - familiarity, practice, and shot placement are the most important factors for proficiency.
Due to rising ammo prices I find myself shooting one of my many .22LR rifles and handguns more often than not while the .45s, ,357s, .44s, 7.62s, and .308s sit collecting dust.

I debated with myself for a long time between Glock trigger vs. DA/SA. I already have a Glock 26. However, at least for me, i felt that the Glock trigger was too light to be safe for conceal carry. For me, there is always a bullet in the chamber. The DA trigger is heavy enough that there will be less chance of accidental discharge. In addition, DA allows me to re-holster my gun with less chance of blowing my family jewels! One of my brother likes the Glock trigger pull and carries a Glock 36 (single stack 45)...his argument is that you only have to learn one trigger pull instead of 2 in a DA/SA gun. He makes a good point.
But in the end, i went with the safe route (DA/SA). I figure that my first shot does not have to be pinpoint accurate...thus, the DA pull is OK. If the guy is far enough that i need to be accurate, then i probably should NOT be pulling out my gun in the first place.
The Sig Sauer P239 has a de-cocker lever...so, it makes it nice to load a round into chamber and then decocking it (safely) to DA and finally, put my Sig into my holster (IWB).

You present good reasoning for your DA preference. While I normally carry a Glock 23 or Ruger SP101 (.357), I hit somewhat better with my 1911 models. Unfortunately I would only carry a 1911 in "Condition 1" and that would freak people out if noticed, not to mention the chance of the hammer catching on clothing during draw. This is another reason (besides light weight, simplicity, and reliability) that I like Glocks.
If I were ever to have a DA semi, Sig would be my hands down choice. A good friend and shooting partner, who also prefers SA semis, has to carry a 226 as his duty weapon and aside from the caliber, really likes it.

That is too bad to hear about the Kahr. I bought one brand new (P9) and in the first 100 rounds I had a few jams (not feeding up the feed ram) but once I got past that first 100 round the gun was "broken in". I have had somewhere between 1000-1500 round through it since and zero problems. My dad owns a Kahr K9 and has had zero malfunctions. He did however buy it used so he did not have to deal with the break in period.

- Kahr P9 (9mm) (on my person all the time)
- Smith and Wesson M&P9 (9mm) (always with me in the car)
- Taurus 1911 (.45) (carry in the winter when I can wear a coat or jacket. it is a little big to try and conceal easily.)

In fact, on the last time that i sent it in to Kahr, their gunsmith shot my gun and the magazine FELL OUT during the shooting session! It just fell out while he was shooting it!!
Trust me, i could not make this up even if i tried! The customer service guy told me this when he was giving me report of what they have done with my gun...and he said it in an embarrasing tone. 
And when i got it back the last time (3rd time to factory) and it still jammed 2 times in 250 rounds, i gave up. In the end, they have replaced the slide twice, barrel once, spring twice...basically, the only thing that was original was the polymer frame. I tried to give Kahr 3 chances because i love the design and shootability of it. It is super compact, lightweight, and pretty accurate. The trigger pull was smooth and long enough (great for conceal carry IMHO). But, i was not going to carry it if it continues to jam at least once every 100 rounds...thus, if i am not going to carry it, then the whole attraction to my Kahr disappears.
I know that Kahr has a good reputation and they do make great guns. However, my Kahr was too problematic for me to enjoy it.

What I carry
I carry a orig. Glock 21, full frame .45... with the pre-ban double stack 13rd clip, two that I alternate every week... this was my fathers first Glock, and was my 21st B-day present. I carry it with me regardless of where I am at... Like mentioned before...
I would rather be judged by 12, than carried by 6.

Great choice. I have the same weapon (with Trijicon night sights). The 21 with 13 rnds of 240 gr is lighter than an empty 1911A1 and has less recoil. While I usually carry my smaller model 23 .40 S&W, I hit much better with my Glock 21 and my 1911 models.
Don't ever get rid of that piece!

I won't, and the Government won't either!! haha, but yes I am sold on the simplicity and function of Glocks. Kind of like a toyota... but 13+1 is a lot of fire power in a pistol, but like my father always said... its the first one that counts, and that is the truth, oh and may God have mercy on America

My brother is in the Army and based in North Carolina and he had to do the same thing you are doing. Dang east coast liberals! :bash:
