What concerts have you been too and who was really good live??

I have seen a whole bunch of shows and too many bands to list but a few that stand out as really good shows were....

Rob Zombie
Slipknot
Mudvayne
Shadows Fall
Chimaira
Gwar (music sucks but the show was something else)

Metallica 3/12/85 $8 to get in and it was the last time to see them in a small venue.

I used to work security at Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, VA so I have seen hundreds of bands.

Some memorable b/c of the crowd:

NSYNC solely because of the MILF's bringing their kids to it.

Jimmy Buffett was always fun. Crowd was interesting.

Dave Matthews and 311 were also great concerts.

And I have also been to a lot of concerts as a fan. Most memorable:

Stone Temple Pilots opened up for Rage Against the Machine. Best show I have ever seen hands down.

Limp Bizkit was good during their prime.

100's of local shows, there was a time where I saw something every weekend for three years. I've since chilled out on that, and my hearing is much better :bonk: !

RonMaiden, I am jealous of you getting to see Metallica. The actual band Metallica, not the guys who wrote St. Anger:bash:

I am only 20 so I missed out on Metallica (they were my favorite band from the time I was about 7 until I was about 16.) I am also disappointed that I will never see Pantera.

And why in the hell do you know the exact number of concerts youve been to. I saved all the tickets, but im in no mood to count.

I saw The Smithereens in Richmond, VA back in 1991. I tell you it was like a wall of guitars. That band had an awesome sound that was very unique. Their live performance of "Blood and Roses" was nothing short of breathtaking!

When I was in college, Expose' came to town, along with Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam. What the heck, it was the 1980s ya know. I paid about ten bucks for the tickets and there were young ladies everywhere!

The latest concert I attended was Billy Joel when he came to Charlottesville (UVA) back in February. He is getting up there in years, but he can throw it down with any of the "kids" out there who claim to be musicians. There's nothing better than hearing ten thousand people singing in chorus to "Piano Man" -- with audience members from eight to eighty enjoying every minute of it.

My girlfriend and I totally loved it, despite the crowds, piss-poor parking and traffic condtions. Several thousand people in town for the concert and they probably had two or three cops on traffic control duty.

I've been to some smaller concerts throughout the years - with local talent - but that's about it. Oh, what a mundane life I lead. If I had my druthers, I believe that seeing Van Halen perform would complete my life. Make it with Dave or Sammy handling vocals - either incarnation is fine with me. The 1984 and 5150 albums rate the same in my opinion. A very close second goes to Phil Collins and/or Genesis.

Wow you guys are concert whores LOL.

I've only seen ONE concert in my life, wife took me last year for my birthday, 28th to be exact, to see Kenny Chesney. He had Uncle Kracker and Gretchen Wilson out with him too. Was pretty fun, but something I dont feel compelled to do again really. Ive done it once, was just a huge bunch of people listening to the same thing I can jam out to here at the house in surround sound.

Guess I'm not a big live concert fan lol.

What I REALLY like listening to is smaller bands that play during certain events, bars, etc. Something about their sound that catches my interest and I just have to sit and listen for a while.

I have most of my tix in a photo album and maybe the number is a few over/under.

I did get to see Cliff Burton twice as I also saw Metallica open for Ozzy in May of '86 4 months before Cliff's death.

One of the oddest bills that actually kicked ass was when Pantera was opening for Skid Row with Soundgarden squeezed in the middle back in '92.

I'll be seeing Queensryche,Alice Cooper and the Ronnie James Dio fronted version of Black Sabbath (Heaven & Hell) in September and that's a week after I see Megadeth.

Thats pretty cool man. I wouldn't go to any of the 80s metal bands concerts unless it was for someone else. Like I saw Anthrax but thats only because they opened for Rob Zombie. I dunno, I like Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath, some Megadeth but just not enough to go see them. I'm more into the newer metal, but I really like the stuff that pays heritage to its roots. Shadows Fall and Trivium both have sort of an old school sound to them.

Anyways, RamThis I think your crazy.

An Iron Maiden show is like no other and as far as a band that has 30 years under their belts and are pretty much in their late 40s/early 50s they still rock and some newer bands could learn a thing or two from them when it comes to showmanship.

I've seen Maiden 14 times.

I can take that as a compliment. I'm 39 and graduated in '87 and sometimes I do feel old especially at some shows like the 311 show I went to a few years ago.

you should take that as a compliment, youve seen some of the greatest concerts of all time, my dad raised me on van halen and beck and those guys, i would pay anything to be able to see some of the concerts you have

My dad raised me on Sabbath,Kiss,Alice Cooper along with a lot of other classic rock so I was fortunate things rocked in our household.

My first show (Priest) was my B-day gift from my dad when I was 15 and he also attended the first Metallica show I saw.

I've been to too many to list

My first concert was Prince on the Purple Rain tour.
The last was LeAnn Rhymes about a month ago.
The loudest was Deep Purple on the Perfect Strangers tour in '85 I think.
The worst was either Bob Dylan in Gainesville (I think he was stoned ) or U2 on the Joshua Tree tour in the old Tampa "sobrero" stadium - sound sucked big time.
The best was INXS on Listens Like Thieves tour or Rush on Roll the Bones tour

Well, I'm going to seriously date myself and post what I can remember. I've probably seen at least two or three times this many bands, but most of them were a long time ago and I just don't remember them anymore. I still get out to the occasional concert or two, but not nearly as often as I did when I was younger.

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (my first concert, in 1974)
Led Zeppelin - 3 times
Rolling Stones - 2 times
Blue Oyster Cult

Korn (Life Is Peachy tour - back when they were good) - The Boathouse

Candlebox - The Boathouse

NIN - Hampton Collisieum

Metallica (5 times) - Hampton Colisieum, GTE Amphitheatre, Ravens Stadium, Fed Ex Field, Verizon Center

TOOL - Verizon Center and Richmond Colisieum

The TOOL shows have been the best by far.
