Confused about HID Headlights?

Hey all! Back in June I got a 2007 SR5 and I've been thinking about changing the headlights on it. I want to get HIDs, either 4300k or 5000k. The more I read about HIDs, the more confused I seem to get LOL. I read that you need a HID projector. From the looks of it, it seems like I have a halogen projector light. Would they work with HIDs? The truck is completely stock, so the lights in it aren't crappy aftermarket ones. Thanks for the help in advance!

You already have a projector for the low beams and can easily put in HID's, though the swap is more involved than just the bulb of course. You may also want to adjust the aim a little lower.

You can put a HID kit in halogen projectors but you will get better results using HID projectors. Most don't want to go through the expense or trouble to swap their halogens out.

To each their own.....
 
I'll get flamed but, I have HID bulbs in my halogens, works great for me! Could it be better? Sure could! But this is better than stock! I would go with 5k
 
HID in regular headlights will work but look like ass. They spray light everywhere and blind oncoming drivers. To do it right, get some OEM projectors from an '06+ and drop in the HID bulbs. You'll get awesome performance, they look great and you get a solid cut off line. 4300 or 5000k will be fine. I'm running 6000k and they still look white to me, but a hint of blue when seeing the truck from the outside. Don't go higher than 6000 though- it turns purple and you lose output.

Do you have any suggestions on which ones to get? Or even where to find them? lol. I'm new at all of this!
 
ive had good success with eBay ones in the past but lately i have had some shit ballasts. I've purchased from DDM tuning as well.

These are pretty popular on this site, I've had them for a few years and they're still going. 4300k closest to your stock HID look I think, some prefer 5000k.

I've been running the Xenon depot listed above. Pricey, but a very high quality kit. I've run DDM tuning on a couple of motorcycles. They work but the connectors and ballast are a little cheaper quality. I would avoid the ebay ones unless you like running around with 1 or 0 headlights on....
 
although u can put a hid kit in the 06+ projectors, its alot better with true hid projectors, retrofit is the way to go in terms of spread of light and performance you get from it. check out my youtube vids and youll see how wide spread of light i can get.
 
2nd on theTRS Morimoto's finished installing mine awesome effect.

just make sure you deal with the Squirrel Spotters.
