Considering buying a limited '00

I'm considering selling my 01 4runner sr5 and picking up this limited 00. To me it seems like a no brainer but I'm also not as well versed in the 4runner world as Ive only been in it for about 4 months now. I have a buyer for mine lined up for 5250. and this one out the door is 6250. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and checking out the car fax, it has been mostly dealer maintained and had its timing belt, water pump, drive belts, and plugs / wires changed as well
 
Looks fine, but it's all about rust. From the pictures it looks like it has been attacked with rust. Request frame pictures and all over the underbody. Otherwise it looks nice and has an elocker.
 
I would want to know why the strip on the top of the bumper is rippled like that, could be a sign of shoddy repair work from a wreck.
 
What are the specs on yours? I see multiple dents on the limited (roof, hatch). I don't see anything spectacular about it, and it is definitely not "extremely rare" as the description says. Only thing I see that stands out is the locker. I wouldn't sell my 98 SR5 to buy that one...
 
I also agree that there is nothing rare about the 4runner itself. The dealer doesnt know why the bumper is ripped either, that was one of the 1st questions I asked. Also the car fax shows no report of being wrecked.

do yall think this one would be a better option even though a little more money? The sr5 i have now runs great but has been wrecked before and the radiator support was never fixed correctly. Im really wanting to get into a good limited before i begin my modding.

Seems to me from what i can tell on this one is that there is very little rust and whoever had it before probably took the time to keep the frame painted.
 
I would say regardless of carfax and what the dealer says it's had front end damage. Look below the driver side headlight, the body lines aren't even. Not necessarily a huge issue depending on the extent of it. I would look in the engine bay (most likely toward the front) for welds that shouldn't be there.
 
You should really get it checked out while on a lift. Look at the undercarriage and inspect for rust and frame rot. To not do this would be a mistake.

Do a search for frame rust.

^^^He's right. Looks like a front end hit.


I would go with the second one you're looking at.
 
DO NOT and I can't stress DO NOT enough buy from that dealer. Everything they sell are absolute pieces of sh*t. Look at their eBay auctions. (This one was listed there a few times).

Why sell your '01 to buy an '00 anyway? What's the deal with yours?

BTW, I was referring to the one in Philadelphia.

Well you made hat decision easy lol and mine doesn't really other have anything wrong with it but I've always wanted a limited and I want to start doing mods but I don't feel comfortable modding the one I have now due to it being involved in a moderate front end collision in the past. A huge thanks for your input btw!
 
Looks to me like it has quite a few dents and dings, and the front end just doesn't look right. That may not be a huge deal for you. But hey with a ruined front and rear bumper like it has, that's a better excuse to get some off road bumpers!

I will be getting front and rear plate bumpers eventually anyways but don't want to buy a 4runner that's jacked up to begin with and end up doing more
And spending more than if I had just stayed with my sr5. I'm going to go with the second one I posted after they send me pictures of the frame and that checks out. After comparing them picture to picture the second one is the easy choice even though its $1000 more.

2nd this, this truck has been on the "bay" for a long time, on and off and has been wrecked and is just a garbage ride....I looked at this truck in person before I bought mine a few months back- I walked away in a few minutes. Its just one of those trucks where it does not sit right, had a rough life...

Thanks for the info buddy! Looks like I will be walking away from this one as well. Sounds to me that these people buy wrecked cars prior to the wreck being reported to insurance or dmv and rebuild them....We have a dealership like that here where I live and as a police officer I am always responding to people that have been "scammed" by them. Again thanks for the help!
