did a search on this and came up with zip....

to those of you that have the oem console mounted disc changer in the 4th gen. 4runner, is it possible to control the changer from the rear controls independent from the in-dash single cd player and vice-versa?

I don't have the OEM CD Changer, but I recently installed the Toyota XM kit on my 05 Limited with factory NAV and discovered that the Rear Seat Audio, XM and the CD changer all plug into the same port on the rear of the Head unit. You can use all of these with a Y adapter, but anything that uses the same port as the RSA cannot be controlled or heard over the RSA.

Hope this helps, from your post it wasn't clear if you had the Nav or not. I can only speak to the NAV though.

thanks for the info... i do not have the nav unit, but in order to use the rear audio control and the additional cd changer i would need a y adapter, right?

That's the way it works with the NAV. I don't have any experiance with a non NAV radio, but if I had to guess it would be simular.

hello irpete, please help

i have 05 limited w/ nav and i wanted to add cd changer and dvd player.

please give me the part number for the Y adapter, i went to the local Toyota parts dept and asked for the Y adapter and they said no such thing as Y adapter and i can only add a factory cd changer.

thank you.

knn2,
Here is the Toyota Part# 08695-00370 I think it was about $17.

I hear you on the Toyota dealer. They also told me that I couldn't install the Solara XM kit on my 4Runner Nav but I did.

Hope this helps...
