Hello All,

I am NOT a Console Vault employee, nor have any ties to them whatsoever. PLEASE REMOVE this thread OR let me know if I am violating any rules, so that I can delete.




After reading a recent Smash 'n' grab thread about a fellow member who was a victim of car theft. I wanted to post a reminder in regards to the Console Vault. Cost is about $300 shipped, and install is simple.

Ya i love my vault. And good customer service. When mine was delivered it was stolen from my doorstep (we believe) and i talked to them and they re-sent another vault. very nice of them. use it all the time.

one of the best mods you can do, love mine but it started to rattle after a couple months but it literally costs $1 bill to fix the rattle i had

I just can't believe I can get the Shield and G19 plus 5 mags mounted in there and still have room for anything else. That's why the Fort Knox box is on the rear floorboard, attached with a grade 70 transport chain. Which ever firearm is left in the vehicle goes in the Fort Knox when parked other than in the garage.

What are the internal measurements of the console box? It would give me more secure storage.

The console vault is almost the exact same size as the console, it drops in perfect and sits about 1/4 from the lid, so fill your console with stuff and that is most likely what you can fit in the console vault, not much room is wasted

I'm thinking about buying one of these. Can you post pics of what it looks like inside and if you still have access to the plug? I have a 2011 LE, not sure if they have relocated that plug since then.

Console Vault is here in Las Vegas, so i was able to cash n carry. We have tons of car burgs here so this is a must have for overnight or street parking. You do lose access to the inner 12V and USB, but we have 3 12Vs in our immediate reach anyway.

maybe instead of questioning the vault you should be questioning the places you drive to! the vault isn't meant to transport a weapon it is for those RARE cases that you have to exit your vehicle and can't take the gun with you i.e courthouses etc.....

if you get carjacked and ripped from your vehicle, having a gun locked up in a vault isn't gonna do much for ya:cheers:

Just found this thread. To be honest, it wasn't until I came across a thread on a pistol forum yesterday that I even knew these were available for the T4R.

I ordered a very similar vault from a competitor, Lock'er Down, earlier today. The price was a little lower considering that the 4 digit combo lock was not an add-on and I also received a law enforcement discount.

Just received an email from fedex that the item is already enroute. Pretty darn quick service.

Can't wait to get it installed. It'll be good to know that I have at least a modicum of security available in the cabin of the T4R before taking off for out of state family visits over the summer.

For the record, I have no affiliation with the company nor have I received anything in return for this post. (In fact, I won't even have the safe until next week and my fingers are crossed that i will be as pleased as others seem to be.)

Just got the Lock'er Down console safe. Five minute installation without any hiccups whatsoever. Combo lock was easy to set and fit and finish is perfect.

Everything fit back inside that I previously had stored in the console though the little plastic divider will be missed. Might just rig something up if need be.

A nice addition to the T4R.

I've used both companies, console vault in my tundra and lockr down in the 4runner.

THey both are so similar I'd buy whatever you can get a better price.

I usually carry a firearm in mine. What I do is, I don't latch the spring loaded console vault door closed when I drive, so when I open the 4runner middle console door, the vault door springs open too.....instant access to firearm. Hard to explain, but those that own the vault will know what I'm talking about. When I leave the car, I lock the console vault door.

BTW, if you store your firearm like I do in the above post, its your responsibility to lock it up when you have kids/wifey/dmb friends/nosy coworkers who can have potentially have access to the console.while sitting in the vehicle. So use your brain if you decide to use the console vault like I do when I drive.

Thanks for the tip on the ability to use the vault unlatched. Hadn't considered that.

Probably won't be something I'd use but for the very rare and unforeseen occasion since I wear my firearm both inside and outside of the vehicle but it's nice to know that the option exists.

I think you'll be well pleased. They fit perfectly and literally take a minute or two to secure in place. Worth the price for the additional peace of mind they provide.

With the Lock'er Down products being made in San Antonio, TX; I think I will have to investigate this product further. I saw one that [MENTION=154554]Jasontamu[/MENTION] has, and I was impressed.

...now where did I put that imaginary pot of gold I need for all mods not created by [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION]...?
