Consolidated Lighting Info Thread

Remove the bumper..... and look around. There's like 3 screws and out comes the headlight.

Yup! it was pretty obvious when I finally got the bumper off. I had never taken a bumper off before and wanted to have all the instructions before hand.

1 screw under the side rubber for the hood seal
1 screw on top in plain sight
1 screw on the front corner
1 screw on the outside where the bumper comes off

4 total and easy to reach

Haven't wired mine up yet but I know those switches are a 3amp unit so they must be ran through a relay. Not sure about the diode, someone else will chime in I'm sure.

Not sure about you needing a diode.... are you going to make this circuit negative switched? Why?

Here is a Simple Aux Light Wiring Dia for 4Runner, but I don't know why there are 3 wires on your rigid light.

I don't have a preference, in diagram from aob it says pos switched is for older model trucks and neg switch is for newer. Mine is a 16 trd so I assumed neg.

Here is hot and neutral coming from battery fuses 15 amp goes to relay where I guess it picks up the 3rd wire and comes back into the truck

Look up Cymon build thread. Or the light bar thread he made. I have a handful of comments in there as well I believe.

Long story short, it'll explain exactly how to wire that up. I would link, but I'm on mobile.

You'll need to cut those three connectors for sure.

Since my 2016 Tacoma was totaled I had a lot of transfer from the lighting mods I had done. A lot of people have asked about LED turn signals and if it is possible and I'm here to say yes it is. I have vled v3 tritons in the front and rear of my 4runner. They have a plug in play resistor so no hyper flash at all. Color is crisp and perfect. Since my Tacoma had red tail lights the ones in the rear of the 4runner are now red as well. I tapped into the running lights and now I have some extra red to the rear. They still function as turn signals.

The link is in my first post on my build thread "If I can do it you can" light bar install.

Let me know if you have any questions!

So I thought I had it figured out, I got the led light switch portion wired in and switch turns on light and off ( red wire on aob switch to blue wire on rigid harness.. green w/yellow stripe on aob switch to red wire on rigid harness , black wire from rigid harness is not hooked to anything... maybe it should ??

)
I believe the black and blue w/ yellow stripe are for illumination of switch when truck is running / lights on. Problem is that the light on aob switch is on when truck / lights are off and cuts off when I crank the truck or turn lights off ?? It's like it's backwards ?
I have black wire from aob switch spliced into Grey wire on wiper heater and blue w/ yellow stripe from aob switch spliced into green on wiper heater.. can anyone give me some guidance? I have some experience with 120v AC switches and wiring , but absolutely NONE on DC voltage and I still have yet to wrap my brain around it :/

trd tim,

From what you have written, the AOB switch wiring seems to be correct.

But obviously something is not making sense....!

We need to know what terminals on the relay the Black, Blue and Red are connected to.
Can you draw a diagram of that?
