Just got a 4Runner

I first drove an SR5 base model when my 2000 civic was in the shop–and now I have the TRD Off-road XP pkg!

Just need some lights. Been on here for awhile, researching and have settled with the Xenon Depot H11 Kit...

But where's my man Steve at?

I hear he's the guy to work with!

Quick question. Wiring up a Rigid 20” light bar to an AOB switch. I’ve been searching for the past 3 days and can’t find the answer to my question.

What color wires off the Rigid harness (with relay) go to which color wires off the AOB switch?

I wired it to the best of my knowledge however with key out, the switch stays illuminated.

The relay is wired to the battery. I did not tap into the factory wiring to dim the switch. Do I need an add a fuse?

If you're not looking for something as bright as HID kit then yes going with the H11 Xtreme LED Pro kit for your low beams would be your next best option.

I'd like the high beams to also match. Which kit would work? I am assuming it would come with 4 bulbs, correct? It's been awhile since I made any lighting conversions so I am a bit rusty!

Theoretically any 9005 bulb will work in the HB spot, you just need to decide what you're willing to deal with since the HB spot is the DRL spot, which makes LEDs sort of imperfect since they'll either run full force as DRLs (if you use canbus) or have a high frequency flicker when DRLs are on (without canbus), and still be full force brights. Read the HB portion of the Exterior Lighting section for more details.

If you want the closest Kelvin match while retaining all OEM functioning, get an incandescent (halogen) 9005 like the Osram night breaker. If you're okay disabling the DRLs so you can run LEDs for maximum output, check here:

Don't go HID in the HB spot, they take 30-45 seconds to warm up. Good luck.

You can go with the 9005 Xtreme LED Pro kit with canbus for your high beams and DRL.

The kits are sold separately so you'll need to get one H11 and one 9005 kit.

Front Parking Light 2825 - Suitable LED's To Match DRL Color?

2013 SR5.

As I posted earlier in this thread, I recently replaced my aging/pitted/cracked clear DRL lenses and installed slightly higher output 4157NA halogen bulbs, and they look really fantastic IMO. Clear lens with yellow halogen bulb, and I like the overall color temperature of the DRL's. Seems to "pop" more than the stock ones (or maybe the stock lenses were just that bad/worn/pitted from 160K freeway miles).

However, the stock front parking lights (halogen 2825's) are WAY dim by comparison. Overall color temp is very close, just not bright enough.

I tried a few interior 2825 LED's I had as spares in the parking light location, and they are certainly brighter. But they create a funky color of orange when used in this location (cool white LED + yellow parking lens), and don't match the overall color temp of the DRL's at all.

I believe some of the "warm white" 2825 LED's would fit the bill. Lots of the ones I see are "interior rated" only. Can anyone recommend a good exterior (Parking Light) compatible 2825 LED that mimics the color temperature of the stock halogen 2825 bulb but with more light output?

LED Turn Signals - Is "HyperFlash" a given?

The latest I heard it is still the case. Hyper-flashing is feature built into the stock flasher (burned bulb detection). The only way to not make it hyper-flash is provide the load equivalent of incandescent bulbs (20W). No LED bulbs will have the "load resistor" built in as it will put to much heat for the LED bulb (LED cheeps don't like to work hot).

The better option would be to use aftermarket flasher which does not have "burned bulb detection". There is a slight problem with this solution: so far nobody offered such flasher for 5th gen 4Runner. Still waiting for one to show up on the market.

I suspect that the issue is in the complexity of 5th gen flasher: it provides DRL and blinkers for trailer (American standard with red blinkers/stop functionality). I guess it is to much investment in the design and not enough market to pay for it.

Correct on the wattage, but do you mean your 4Runner came with factory LED fogs? Should be 18W H16 halogens.

I THINK for the the 5th gen refresh '14+, toyota offered whats called 2 in 1 LED fog lights option. They act as DRL's and fog lights. There are 6 leds around the perimeter of the lens that are lit for DRL. When you use them as fog lights, those turn off and a center LED is turned on for that. When it's equipped with these, there is an extra DRL button on the left that lets you manually turn them on/off.
They are so much whiter than the normal halogen DRL and that's what I've been thinking about trying to match. Or I could just do the DRL delete mod too.

2015 Interior and Puddle Light Swap Summary

Just completed the full interior and puddle light LED swap on my 2015 SR5. Below is my two cents...

Map lights, Door Lights
- Replacement Bulb: Philips 194 "Interior Vision" LED Light

- Notes: Look for install write ups on forum
Puddle/Mirror Lights
- Repalcement Bulb: Same Philips 194 as above

- Difficulties: Prying the plastic panels off the back of the mirror is gut wrenching, but despite my nerves I couldn't even manage to break it myself
- Notes - It helps to turn the mirror completely inside or outside when prying the lower mirror cover off the mirror. Some may choose to use a much brighter 194 bulb, but I wanted mine to be more low key rather than light up the neighborhood.
Dome Light
- Replacement Bulb: DDM Tuning 31mm Festoon (6x2323)

- Difficulties: I had to bend the loose contact in the dome light with needle nose pliers in order to fit the 31mm festoons.
- Notes: A 30mm Festoon might be better than adjusting the contact. I didn't need to adjust the cargo dome lights though...
Cargo Dome Lights
- Replacement Bulbs: Same 31mm Festoons as above
- Link: Same as above
- Difficulties: None. Easiest of them all to remove/replace
- Notes: The 31mm festoon fit perfectly in these, unlike the center dome light

I really like this setup, it is the perfect amount of light and is never too bright or dim for any occasion. I went with the Philips and DDM Tuning LEDs because they were recommended by Aiden James Customs. They are more expensive than most LEDs for sure, but I'm a believer in "you get what you pay for." Some people on here have complained the Philips aren't brighter and are just whiter than OEM but I disagree. They are certainly brighter when plugged in side by side. You can easily op for brighter LEDs all around, but I just wanted a slightly improved look and I think too much light would be obnoxious at times.

Just wanted to post a review on some lighting I have installed on my 2018 4Runner

Low beams - I went with Morimoto Elite hid kit - h11 b - 50w XB ballast and 6500k bulbs . Deff make sure to the “b” option on the bulbs, it fits specific to the 4Runner. , I went with 5500 bulbs at first but didn’t like the color. The high watt ballast made it look like 4500k so I bought the 6500k replacement bulbs and it gave slight more color , so they turned out pure white after warm up which was what I wanted.

High beam / DRL - did a ton a research on this shit ommmmg , was so worried bc of the hyper flash issues and all that crap . I went with DDM tuning , Sabre 50watt 9005 led with the decoder. Got 6k for color. Was worried they wouldnt match up with my morimoto hids just bc that ballast makes the bulbs bright as shit but makes them warmer in color than your traditional amazon kits that all seem to run “cooler” and more blue. Install took me 4 minutes and they match up perfect to the hids once the hids are warmed up. More impressed with the output of these LEDs than I am with the HIDS . Makes me wonder how these would look in the H11 low beams. Haven’t noticed any hyper flash as of yet. The DRL option , holy shit they are basically like high beams lmao , but they do the job as for DRLs , people will see you . They almost don’t look any dimmer or lower in voltage when in DRL mode. As for the high beam use , I am more than impressed and would reccomend these to anyone.

Fogs - I have a set of Sabre H11 6k leds for the fogs not installed yet . If they are like the 9005 I installed for the DRL / high beam , I’m sure they will be Awsome . I will post a review of them once installed.

So, you are correct...your DRL's are actually functioning as high beams. The Low range for the Saber LED's are 9V, that is what your DRL low voltage circuit is.

Don't be surprised if you start getting flashed by on comers.
