Cool cheap "Mod"

I ordered the Coast light and I have an '06.

The light doesn't fit

The light is too loose in the socket. The light comes with an adapter, but the adapter is too big to fit in the socket. What to do?

I am a little surprised that there is no standard for 12V plugs. How many different sizes are there?

I know of at least 5, the old school cigarette lighter is the only standard socket, the accessory socket has many variations. If you want to be sure the light (Coast or JTSpotlight) will fit properly you need to have a cigarette lighter, which has the correct socket, however the newer Toyota

I got a reply last night from Coast Lights

Im sorry that did not fit. I would take it back because there won't be an adapter (one that fits most cars) made until hopefully 2009. Im sorry for the inconvenience.

I wonder why member GEEK came into this thread and recomended this thing, stating it fit his 2007. Could his '07 be that different from my '06? I wonder how he made it fit.
