Coolant in Cylinder 1! What are my Options?

Just make sure the 2 year warranty does not have any disclaimers for a 'self install'. Not familiar with the components mentioned, perhaps more knowledgeable member can provide advice. I would not want to go beyond building up from a long block unless I had a knowledgeable mechanic who I could rely on.

They won't do the install there so hopefully it's a half decent warranty. I will be sure to read all the fine print. Guy I'm putting it with is not a toyota guy in particular but he is a certified honda master tech and used to build late model racecars so I think we should be alright.

If not there is a good shop in town quoting me $1k labor to swap the engines.

Where are you getting it from? A $900 long block has me skeptical.

Poteat's Engine Rebuilding

Latter one is the $900, first one is $1195

Poteat says they put a new head on their engines, Pilot re-machines theirs. Pilot has a 1yr warranty, Poteat is 2yrs.

I talked to both on the phone and both the people that picked up seemed friendly enough and pretty knowledgeable and answered all my questions without hesitating.

Poteat is smack in the middle of the racing capital of the Southeast, probably the east coast so I'm optimistically hoping that the fact there are dozens of engine shops in the area competing for business drives the cost down. Probably wishful thinking but hopefully it's a bargain for the right reasons.

Yep, do it yourself! That's my vote!

I just rebuilt my 1986 Turbo, and, even with all of the extra plumbing, it wasn't too bad. Just make a place to put the parts you take-off, use a piece of flat packing foam to stick the bolts into (bonus, use white and you can write the bolt positions (head, intake, etc) This made it so easy to re-assemble and move the bolts around if needed.
If you do it yourself, you can also do some extra stuff like install an RV cam $100, and use ARP head studs $100. These are re-usable, unlike head bolts, and keep the head gasket in place when you drop the head on. You could always add an MLS head gasket $120 and turbo that sucker!
