Coolant Overflow Full

Last couple days ive noticed rushing water sound every time I hit the gas. I looked under the hood and noticed my coolant overflow is filled to the top. I opened up my rad cap and it released a ton of pressure & had no liquid inside. I let it run with the cap off and it did not fill up and the overflow stayed full.

What part is going bad?

Its a 05 4Runner V6

off hand i would say its the thermostat isnt opening so it overheats and then steam pressure is forcing the water out the only place it has to go.

if it was the radiator cap not holding pressure then it also could be the problem but it shouldnt be running out of water, just running a few inches low at the most if it was the radiator cap

replace your thermostat
