exactly how fast are you going to get that sound to go? I've never heard it once, though I'm not inclined to drive an SUV like a pavement sticking 2 seater

oakjefferson, I was going 30-35mph on OEM Dunlops making sharp right turn(<25mph posted?) onto freeway on ramp which triggered beeping audio warning(VSC);while the Coopers could easily do same at 30mph and NOT get beeping plus felt like the tires were sticking well on the turn! Definitely a better handling P rated A/T tire! Should have replaced my OEM from the start!

wow, surprised that was sound the warning - what is that - 50-55km for a highway on ramp? Doesn't sound excessive at all. Making me want to go try/double check ;)
 
actually, one is supposed to slow down and stop at the signal light before making a sharp right turn which turns into a two lane freeway on ramp entrance;
whereas I was driving downhill @45mph(72.4km) posted limit on street leading to on-ramp; and just slowed to 30-35mph(48.3-56.3km) as I rolled into the turn at the light which was sufficient to trigger the warning beeping alarm (VSC). It was scary the first time as I "drifted" across both lanes. Would probably have rolled over if my TE did not have the KDSS!
After the Coopers, I drove under the same speed conditions and found that I could drive and feel safer without triggering the warning beeping!
No excuses other than I was often times in a rush to get to work on time and that there's no traffic at those hours!
I know that it was not a wise to drive like this since it is a SUV with a higher center of gravity;the Coopers and KDSS made an unbelievable improvement in handling in pushing the envelop;esp with a SUV! Also want to mention that my TE with KDSS is stock and no mods to suspension.

Did anyone else have trouble getting their rebate Visa card from the deal last year? They denied my request. :brick:

The rules didn't stipulate from what I read. It might have to do with the retailer not putting enough info on the invoice... even though I asked them to do so. I had a feeling I'd get screwed on this one. I'll call them when I get some time.
 
Update on the rebate issue: I called Cooper today and they were very nice. They explained that the invoice didn't have all of the tire specs required. I let them know that I asked Midas to include it in the invoice but they told me their system would allow it and the best they could do was give me the stickers from the tires (which I sent in originally as well - and why I figured I might get screwed). She looked it over, confirmed the tire and size I purchase and said I should get the rebate within 30 days. Not bad. :thumb:
 
I was just quoted $239.00 per tire for 265/70/17 in 10ply. What's everyone else getting quoted from their local tire shops?

Also we have been putting Cooper AT3's on all our service trucks at work(3/4 ford pickup with utility box and lift gate) and we have been happy with the 4 or 5 pairs we have bought.

Edit: I just called and had them place the tires on hold and it should be installed tomorrow. I already installed a set of Cooper S/T Maxx's on my 97 80 series and they have been great tires. Also these were the cheapest "Name Brand" All Terrain 10 Ply in the area.

I picked up some AT3s last week.

I took mine up a snowy, unpaved, unmaintained mountain pass to about 2400ft yesterday. They performed exceptionally, aired down to 8-10 psi in deep snow packed down by a couple of rigs in front of me. At one point, I had to back uphill for about 30-40 yards and they held up great.

The paved road leading up to this trail was slushy/icy and they did fine in 2wd. There was also an uphill solid ice curve on the unpaved part before we hit the deep snow, and it went right up.

All of the folks in the group were running toyota pickups or 4runners of various ages, all heavily modified for off road use, and I was meeting most of them for the first time. They were all amazed that my bone stock 3rd gen was handling it all so well. I kept hearing "I didn't think you'd make that". This was my first time doing this, ever, so I'm going to have to say that my AT3s (and a good 4runner) were mostly due the credit.

It's one day's experience in a certain set of conditions from a noob at snow wheeling, so take it as you will, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tire to anyone for winter use!

Also looking to get AT3s. Did you buy them locally in WA? The best price I found was a local Discount Tire.

I got mine at Dick's Tire Factory in Wenatchee. It was $788 out the door installed, and $8 lower than they quoted me when I called. The best part was that they were in stock.
 
I'm about to pull the plug on some new tires for my 2011 TE, and really like what I've been reading about the Cooper AT/3s, but nobody in this area (Central Texas) seems to stock them.
Since it does seem like I should be able to pick up some ATPs from Discount Tire, and there are various comments going around claiming them to be rebadged AT/3s, I figured I'd just ask Cooper to get their take on them, and here's their response...

Thank you for your email and interest in Cooper Tires. The Cooper Discoverer A/T3 and the Cooper Discoverer ATP, are not the exact same products. There are obvious differences such as sidewall and tread design, and not-so obvious differences such as compound. The Discoverer ATP tires are a "private label" tire manufactured to Discount Tire specifications and in turn marketed and warranted solely by Discount Tire Company. Because the tire is not marketed by Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, we do not have any product information on this tire.

Cooper Tire manufactures passenger, light truck, ultra high performance and even radial medium truck tires. The tires range in ratings in each category. All tires manufactured by Cooper Tire and Rubber Company are made in the same manufacturing facilities using the same quality products.

So, according to Cooper, the AT/3 and ATP are definitely NOT the same tire, but they can't provide any details on what specifically makes them different, when it comes to the compound used for them (which seems like it might very well matter).
 
I've got 265 ATPs on my Wrangler. Very happy with them and the work very well in snow. Quiet and cheap. Have about 10K on them.
