Cooper A/T3’s with some sidewall coming

Thanks for the first real life pics of the stock sized p-rated ones on trail wheels. Been wanting to see how they looked. Would love an update after a little use on road noise and wet traction.

I have a few hundred miles on mine and they are doing great. Except for road driving my off roading has been restricted to my back yard and a couple of new construction sites.

Not sure how to analyze rain traction. I don't try to take corners at 80mph when it rains. I've been in a couple of downpours. For the speeds I drive nothing unusual happens. Not trying to be a smart ass but the only person I know that actually has analyzed rain traction builds and raced BMWs and he would take a tire around an Interstate exit in the rain at 80mph. The only time I have ever had a tire hydroplane was when it was bald with carcass showing. I learned that lesson real fast about 40 years ago. Honestly though, I'm not even sure what a modern tire that performs badly in the rain is supposed / likely to do. I do know one thing, if it couldn't perform at the typical posted speeds and then some margin above that I would not use it.

I would like to know what pressure people are running these tires at. I am currently at 40 ( rated 44 max ). I have not done the chalk line test.

I have heard nothing but good about Cooper tires from everyone I meet even though they were never on my radar before this forum. If that 65K warranty holds out, I will be very happy if initial use is any indication.

Correct, from their charts it doesn't like they will have a 275.

I emailed Cooper asking if they're planning on making a 275 and never received a response :/

Agreed. I wouldn't say I drive crazy fast either and drove around this afternoon in a downpour and felt they gripped the road good. No wheel slippage when accelerating after a stop. Pretty happy. Like someone else said in their review, "no excitement or drama with these tires, but that's not necessarily a bad thing." Will see how they perform as I start to rack up the miles.

We had a full day downpour here a few days ago. I was driving back roads, subdivisions, some minor flash flood, some pooling water in new construction subdivisions gravel streets. Leaf coated steady rain normal streets.

Backroads 55-60 no issues. I even ran a wheel off the road once into a small gravel/grass shoulder/mini-ditch. Didn't even slow down. Just pulled right back on road.

Ran through the washout and that was basically un-noticable. Pushed a wake in a deeper washout that came up over my front fenders. No real speed there though, just not room for it.

Interstate ramp near 60mph and I probably would not have even gone that fast if dry.

Hit 45 on a slight down incline with lost of leaves and rain. Tried to get my tires in the heavy leaf line. Hard braking but so as not to activate the ABS.

Nothing... No steering feel, no slip, no pull, no slow down. It was as though everything was dry.

I constantly monitor the air pressure and aside from temp changes the pressure stays put. I run 37-40 depending on what the temp is.

So far I would buy again without hesitation.

I agree. I have close to 5000 miles on them so far (will be rotating the tires soon) and have driven them on dry summer roads, wet roads, during a downpour, and just last week in snow and sleet. I've also use them on dirt and gravel roads in wet and dry conditions. They've been amazing in every situation, and by amazing I mean boring since they grip the road so well. Tire wear also seems great so far. Tread still looks new.

Would still highly recommend, and really glad I decided to go with these.

So far so good! Handled great over winter. Didn't do any true off-roading, but handled great in the snow on pavement, gravel and hardpack dirt roads. Took a few trips to Vermont and Western New York. We actually didn't have a bad winter here in CT this year. Only a few snowstorms with more than 6". All in all though I would still recommend them.

Aside from the handling, they are wearing great. Have about 10K on them so far. They are also great in rain, which we've been getting a lot of in the past month or so. Never loose traction even around tight corners in the pouring rain.

Nothing but good things to say. They're not as beefy or aggressive as some other comparable tires, but for what I use them for, and they conditions I've driven them in, I'm very happy with my decision.

Hey thanks for the info! I didn't even realize you were in CT. I'm rihgt next door, in RI. Yeah, this winter was lame. I got my 4R in Feb, and really only had a few inches of snow to play in once.

Sounds like your needs are similar to mine. This is my daily driver, most weeks I put about 400 miles on it. I'v put on almost 10k since I got it in early Feb, haha. I DO plan on hitting some trails, but nothing crazy. I'm not planning on taking this rock crawling or mudding.

I think the 4S will be great. The only other time I'm really stuck on is the new General Grabber ATX. I've read good things about those too.

I stopped by my local Cooper dealer the other day, they gave me a price of 743 out the door for the 4S in the stock size. I thought that was pretty reasonable. I still need to price out the Generals.
