Cooper Discoverer ATP

Hello, I have 2006 V8 Sport 4Runner.

I have been doing some searching and can't seem to find anyone running these tires in 255/75r17 on a stock suspension 4Runner. I found various threads were people seem to be running 255/75r17 tires with stock suspension without issues.

I got a flat on my Bridgestone Dueler tires, so I need to buy a set of tires, asap. If this happened I few months down the road, I would just put a small lift on my 4Runner, then add the tires. The car sees mostly pavement miles. However, I take it out into the desert and do a bit of camping and shooting. So I want a little more height and a better offroad tire. Thanks for any advice.

Short answer....Get them!

That size should be fine with the stock suspension. You'll rub a little in the front, but nothing a little trimming won't fix.

They really are great tires!

cpark, thanks for your input. I had the tires installed today. So far they fit perfect no rubbing issues on the street. I'm taking my 4Runner to an offroad area this Sunday. I'll see how much it rubs when I'm out there.

My next step is to add a little lift to it. I'm thinking 2"-2.5" would be perfect for what I use my 4runner for. And hopefully my wife won't be too upset at me for modifying another vehicle...

good thing your in AZ as they are horrible snow tires. Also they are only Discount/Americas tire specific so if you get a flat and none are around you, you are shit out of luck. I would have gone with the AT3's and they also perform better, I have both and like the AT3's and they sell them at other retailers. On dry roads and off road I'm sure they will perform great for you.

They are as good in the snow as any AT tire I have ever experienced, except maybe the duratrac. When I lived in Colorado, I used them to cut virgin tracks in deep snow many times. I even used them in the Georgetown ice races once and did pretty well, especially for a truck. They are great tires and an excellent value. The dry pavement traction is not the best, but that is the trade off for very long wearing rubber. AT3s are also good, but much more expensive.

Where would you not be near a discount tire? There are 4 within 5 miles of my house, or you can have one delivered to anywhere. Some small town shop is not likely to have any exact tire that we might need.

Trust me they are not good in the snow and I want others to know that. They might have worked for you but they are slippery and not like the at3's or the Michellin LTX's.
What I am trying to say is that the ATP is only made for Discount tire only, Cooper doesn't warranty this tire at all, only Discount tire and only sold thru discount tire so some people may have a hard time finding a replacement local if they don't live around a discount tire when they might have purchased it online. I would stay away from retailers specific model because the tire manufacturer has nothing to do with them. I've developed cracks on the atp's and I called cooper to see if they will cover them and they said it's up to discount tire. This was my second opinion on them as I was at highway speeds and got a blow out at 70. Discount tire said they were fine and normal.

I 100% totally disagree with this. I run the Michelins on my LX470, I run Toyo open Country A/T2s on my Sequoia, and I have run several set of the ATPs in various sizes on my dually, Tacoma, and other pickups. My Tundra has AT3s.

The Michelin LTX is the worst of the them in the snow. AT3 isn't as good as the Toyo, but the ATP has been the best in Snow/ice by far. I have run them on several vehicles and loved them.

All pale in comparison to the ATPs.
