Cornfed finally ordered

Your headlights are that high with only a 1" diff. between front and rear lifts ?? Hopefully you can adjust them that far down .
Tires I personally would go with 265/70's , then you can atleast fit the spare in .
I dont understand that "preload" spacer , what does that mean , and are there other types. Dont all the spacers go on top of the coils ?
How did the install go ?
Dont forget to get an alignment.
Did you notice any difference in ride ? how about handling ? does it seem a little more tippy / unstable cornering.

My head lights were a little high before the lift, but I am not worried about the height right now. The install was not too bad, pretty darn easy if you have a little knowledge of vehicles. The instructions are right on. I am getting my alignment this afternoon, and as far as the ride, it is a little stiffer and feels a little top heavy, but it is not that noticeable. The cornering is fine, did not notice a difference when cornering. It did change the ride, but not much, it feels like the rear end wiggles a little more, but not that bad. I hope that makes sense. As far as the preload spacer for the 2inch, cornfed says leave the original rubber spacer off, (I think that is what you are referring to), because the 2 inch spacer is plastic. I saw a picture of Alexjet's 2 inch lift and he had left his rubber spacer off as well. (between the spring and the lift spacer) hope that makes sense too.

cheers

HERE is an old thread about how the 2" lift (or any custom size lift other than the 3/2) doesnt have the coil spring isolator...

The Preload spacer is the larger UHMW poly spacer that goes between the top of the spring and the top plate. The topout spacer (the thinner alum one) goes on top of the top plate. PM Jason B, he can answer all of your questions and describe with better accuracy how the preload spacer "preloads" the spring to provide lift. Or you can do a search because I know Ive seen it posted on here at least once before.

Coil spring rubber isolator, yup that is what I was talking about, I already spoke with Jason and Cornfed. Cornfed told me to leave it off. I thought I had it right, cornfed says that it is right, but I saw where Alexjet put his back on. Thats where the confusion was for me. No worries, got it now, thanks for the help

Does this sound less confusing? or better yet is this the right way to say this?

UPDATE!!! turns out that the two inch lift does not require the rubber coil spring isolator to go back in due to the fact that the Pre load spacer is plastic. If the pre load spacer was aluminum then the little rubber coil spring isolator would have to go back in. According to CORNFED.
Thanks MW 4Runner for the correct terms...

Do you think you will be able to adjust you headlight down far enough ?

Mine are pretty high in stock form too. Every once in a while I get some flashing ........ unfortunately no the kind of flashing I like to see.:D

The headlights will adjust down more, I am not worried about it, The dealer asked me today if I wanted them adjusted down and I told them no...

As for the vehicle level, the vehicle it is pretty close to being level. There might be a slight rake.

Ahhhhhhhhh, The lift has been great, but I need bigger tires!!! The hitch hit the ground, if I had just half an inch more I believe I could have made it!

I really hate those Dunlops, I will be so glad to get rid of them!:biggrin2:

Falls believe it or not I am considering it. The company I work for is really pissing me off right now and it makes me depressed to think about the way they treat us, (their employees), and when I get depressed I spend money. I may need to seek professional help... nah!

I will go mod crazy on this thing and that will make me feel better!!!

Doooo it!! Rip those rear wheel wells up and be the first to fit's 35's with out BL. Now there's a worthy challenge. That is one thing that I know I will have to do, but would like do see someonelse go first :bigok:

By the way, once you get new tires and get some suspension. The Bala may be a bit envious. oh yeah, doooo it!

One thing in my opionion that can make any stock 4runner look way better, ditch the steps. you'll just rip um up on trail and they will not offer any protection from messin something else up

I took them off when I first put the cornfed on, but it looked really odd to me, maybe I just was not use to the look. I will do it again when I get the bigger tires put on.

Well, if you still think it looks odd just get some sliders. Really not that expensive when you think of what it may save you in the long run. And they will visually give you the same line of sight. I personally love the look of a 4runner with no step and no roof rack. Looks more like a buggy to me. But protection and being able to use teh racks outway looks.

Even though I only put the 265/70 on it and its stock height except for that , I yanked the tube bars off and put them in the barn.

makes it look a little higher

I've been following this thread with great interest! PLEASE post up photos when you decide on a tire size.

Right now I'm in the same boat, I want to get the SAME lift you have, but can't decide between tire sizes, go maximum 275/70R17 or go with a known workable 265/70R17.

My biggest issue with the 275/70/17 is possible rubbing and possibly not being able to fit one in the spare tire location...these are for the Wife's DD T4R and I definitely don't want rubbing issues and I don't want to have to start cutting wheel wells...it's also an automatic 'no go' if I can't fit a 275/70/17 spare...This is her baby so I have very strict marching orders, LOL.

To be perfectly honest, I think your rig looks great with the OEM tires on it...so right now I'm heavily leaning towards just getting 265/70/17 tires...
