Correct trans oil for 4th gen v6 2wd

Been searching all over but cant find the answer. Is the correct trans oil a ws atf? Or a atf type iv? Thanks

I believe it depends on model year. Your owner's manual should tell you.

My 04 took the type IV if I remember right but later model years took the other stuff. That's completely from memory though and I might have it backwards.

Thanks for the reply. I came outside to look at the manual but nothing about trans fluid. Mine is a 04 as well

I had to go dig to educate my curiosity. I know my 07 is WS.

If you have a trans dipstick, it uses T-IV. (I think it says so on the dipstick.)
The "sealed" trans (no dipstick) uses WS.

All 2003 models have the dipstick, so they use T-IV.

The V8 got the sealed trans in 2004, and the V6 got it in 2005.

T-IV and WS are NOT compatible, so don't mix them or replace one with the other.

You're dealer should be able to look it up by your VIN number as well. Please don't take my word for it because I can't be certain that they didn't change things up mid-way through the 2004 model year. It was right around that time when they changed over what type of fluid they use.
