Cost to repair Seat thread holes

Hey guys,

This has been an issue for a year. Both holes are ripped clean, and only 1 is held on with coat wire. What is the average cost to fix? Being an Auto Body student, i'm pretty sure it needs a new floor pan, and needs to be welded back on. Only the left hole (in the picture) is rusted out.

Drill that hole all the way through the floor pan, put in a longer bolt, add a big fender washer, and tighten nut from under the truck, slap RTV on to seal it. Total cost $10 if that. Three of mine are like that going on at least five years. Stronger than stock.

I'm not sure a 'proper' fix makes economic sense, but what I would do is pull the seat and carpet and clean/paint the floorboard -so the rust doesn't keep progressing as rapidly.

Then as already mentioned, just drill all the way through and secure with some large fender washers.

I plan to do this but as of now, this is the temporary fix until I have time to repair this. The right front is the same as well w/o rust.

Should I just use a rust protector spray paint can? I will sand it too to remove most of the rust as well.

What a timely thread. I have actually pulled the nutsert out of the floorpan recently. I was wondering about drilling all of the way through and know I know it will work nicely. Man, I love this forum.

I repaired my front seat bolt nuts by welding a new nut same thread to a big washer and pop riveted the washer to the bracket. Or you can weld it to the washer back to the plate.

this should be deemed a safety issue by NHTSA...

It's 20 years old, people should take care of their stuff not let them be rust buckets also. Metal fatigue happens.

Both mine were not do to rust issues. It's just a design flaw and fairly easy to fix.

It falls under shit happens. Repaired a couple for friends, fix was different for each neither difficult from metal fatigue.
A design that last's 20+ yr of use as we use them rust condition etc, that's a flaw.

The left front bolts pulled through the floor bracket on both of my 4runners. no rust involved. A design flaw? Yes, but they did last 22 plus years.
A little welding and extra metal for support should last another 20 years.

Yup. Same here left side Deivers seat pulled through. Mine made it 20 years. I fixed 2 of my 5. So we shall see how the other 3 hold up.
