So I'm thinking of just buying once crying once (including one $40 hose, ouch), and going OEM. One appears to be discontinued however.

Check Amayama and other foreign sources. You may find prices that are lower and maybe some items that Toyota USA has discontinued. For smaller, lighter weight parts, the shipping cost can be reasonable.

Thank you, Amayama and Partsouq is where I get 90% of my parts. Currently have 72 parts in my cart .

Unfortunately one hose (90445-14172) is unavailable from both of them, and is $40 from other sources (I'll bite the bullet on that one).

Another one (23829-75130) is discontinued altogether.

The tool also works on Oetiker style ear clamps, such as for fuel injection. Faster than turning a screwdriver.

nice, had to look them up, this one...same brand..is $18 cheaper and reviewed on you tube. wonder if I need the extra cable and other heads ? In about a month I will be replacing all my coolant hoses and the oil cooler gaskets and hoses...this can be real useful

I have one like it, and it's great especially for larger clamps like radiator hose clamps, where regular pliers are too small and you'd need to step up to Channellocks.

However, they were pretty useless for the other water hoses - they were too large to sneak into the narrow areas where the clamps were hiding. I found a combination of straight and offset long handle needlenose pliers to be very effective.

+1 on the offset long handle needle nose pliers for removing/installing the constant pressure clamps.
