Ahh. OK. that makes way more sense..

I watched the video and saw you plan to run 40s on 22" rims...

Just a warning.. you will get a lot of flack here just because of the 22s. I'm just giving you fair warning that people tend to hate on that look here. It's not my style.. but I appreciate different strokes....

Now what are you going to do about power to turn those monsters. What gears? What about the electronics and those axles. Do you have a signal converter for the ABS planned. What type of steering setup?

Any plans for a power train swap or the much anticipated magnuson super charger for the dual VVTI 1grfe. If you don't know... it's been a long wait, but there seems to be one that is suppose to be available in q4 of this year.

It might be OK with the right gears.. but these things are not exactly power houses....especially with the garbage eco mode throttle mapping.

That's ok if everyone doesn't like the look or the way I'm building it but it's my 4Runner not theres lol,if anyone doesn't want to follow my build it coats you nothing lol

I'm not sure what gearing I'm going to run 5.29's or lower

I'm going to use a toyota steering box or a Land Cruiser box

The super charger sounds cool but I plane to swap in the Toyota D4-D Diesel

I know they don't have lots of power thats why I planed on swapping it before I even bought it

Still waiting for someone to do a 5.7 swap. Just not in love with diesels anymore.

Does D4-D mean that 4cyl? I hope not.. Can't imagine that being enough power for 40s.... unless the turbo was upgraded and the boost was at the absolute limits....

Will be curious to see how it comes out either way.

No turning back now LOL

I believe it's an inline 4, so yes.

D4-D is the name used for the injection system on newer Toyota diesels. I assumed that was meaning the 1VD-FTV, but if it's a 4cyl I think it's going to struggle. I've wanted a 1VD for my FJ40 since they introduce them - but they're so darn expensive. Like $20k for the motor expensive.

I don't even think you can drive the 4 cyl on the street. It's not US smog approved.
 
Holy nuts! 25k for 170 HP and 270 ft/lbs, not to mention shop time. I'm not trying to hate on the build or anything because it is cool, but taking a LE 4R and then doing a SAS and removing the LE drivetrain and replacing it with an SR5 drivetrain seems absolutely ridiculous, especially if you're just towing with it. Why not just buy a diesel tow rig from Ford/Chevy/Dodge?
 
I think the point with most custom builds is ridiculous. This is ridiculous. I also love it. Drivetrain swap just to retain keyless ignition is the shit you do while daydreaming (i.e.- ford body, cummins, Allison trans).

You obviously have the time, skill, and $$$ so I'm glad you are doing it the way you want. Having muscular dystrophy definitely explains the airbags, you're 3rd gen looks like a great trial crawler, this fits the bill for the other 90% of the driving you do. It'll be a ridiculous DD. I'm excited.
 

Phase one of the front axle truss design

Got the 4Runner lifted as high as the rear jack stands could go next we need to build pedestals for them to put it at ride hight
