Since that particular model was manufactured in 2004 I doubt it would be released as a 2009 4Runner. That would be taking a step backwards for Toyota IMO.

I think the last year for the 4th gen will be 2009. The 2nd and 3rd gens had a 7 year production run and so I imagine the 4th gen will

2nd Gen 89.5,90,91,92,93,94,95 6 and a half years
3rd Gen 96,97,98,99,00,01,02 7 Years
4th Gen 03,04,05,06,07,08,09

Based on history, it stands to reason it is likely the 4th gen will hang around for 09?

I don't get the 3rd seat. I'm sorry, forgive me all of you with children who don't want to sacrafice the 4Runner coolness and don't want to become "Minivan-ized"!
But if you want a herd hauler, get a mini-van or say the Highlander or Land cruizer. Designers, leave my 4Runner alone. I'd never buy a 3rd seat version. But I guess that's why they will still make them with the 2 seat version.
All I'm saying is I hope the 3rd row seat stays an option!
But hey I'd take a diesel!!
 
i could see the 4runner heading in that direction...not completely unrealistic....nasty looking IMO tho...4th gen 4 life.
 
I would buy it. The seat look way more comfortable than the 4 th gen seats. The seat bottoms looks to extend out further for better thigh support. I like the styling.

It is NOT the future 4runner. But, it is not a bad SUV...looks like a cross between 4runner and RX350...4runner frame with RX shell.
 
These can be seen all over the Asian market. I actually got to see them pretty often in the Philippines. They are actually on a truck frame that is shared by the iNova, Hilux and the Fortrunner so it's no wussy crossover.
 
Yeah, my mom who lives in the Philippines, whenever she mentions my 4Runner, she calls it the fortuner :D
 
If the next 4runner looked anything like that I would be insanely disappointed. I am anticipating the 5th gen 4runners more than anything.

First thought was how much it looked like the RX350. I am not a fan of those at all. They look like eggs...

Then again, I've always just been a fan of the 2nd-3rd gens. I'm just now warming up to the 4th gen look which is, as most would say, "less boxy".

On another note, I can't imagine they wouldn't make the 3rd seat just an option.
 
I was in Thailand this past Nov., and they are everywhere. It's a pretty *****in looking vehicle. Wish I took some pics now.
