Couple battery issues maybe?

Ive noticed a couple strange things my truck has been doing over the last week or so. Sometimes, not always, when i start the truck there is a minor hesitation. Like it skips ONE beat on the start up. And the other is after the truck is started, but still cold, once im rolling (usually at lower speeds, say coming up to a stop sign or even the end of my driveway) a nd apply the brakes i can see the headlights dim a little and engine kinda acts weird. drops RPMs really faast....
Does this sound like a battery issue? alternator? i dont know much about this stuff so if anyone has a clue lemme know!

aside: if it is a battery prob ill most likely get an optima yellow top(?), I noticed how fking expensive they were yesterday while in autozone , like $175 +/-!!!:bash:

and correction, the RPMs rise and fall rapidly, during brakign, whilst headlights obviously flluctuate. No one knows?
If i dont hear anything here then ill just have to wait and mention at my next service and hope they know, something.

Take it back to Autozone/Advanced Auto/Pep Boys or another auto parts chain store and have the test the battery and charging system, for free!

which belt bk?

I think there is only one serpentine belt driving everything (except the timing belt) on the engine. If the engine detects a loss of voltage, it might increase the RPM's to match the expected output from the Alternator.

If you look at the underside of the belt, it should not be very shiny. If it is shiny, it can slip on metal surfaces (like pulleys).

ah ic, ill take a look at that. now that u mention it, a few days ago after i washed my truck and fired it up i did have a belt squeal for about 1-2 seconds, i was like WTF......
