Crack in 2005 Dash

The dealership is unwilling to help. They said they have been getting a lot of new ones off the truck that have the same problem that they have been having a repair guy fix. I told the manager thats a great reason that I would never buy a car from them if they are fixing new ones instead of replacing them. They did say that had the airbag gone off it would have riped much more as well as been more of a straight line. The crack is def. more noticable when the AC has been running and it is colder than durring the day when it gets hot. the repair guy said $40 to fix it and I have seen some of his work. I think I will give that a shot, because the part is $1000 plus $400 in labor. Will post pics after the repair.

Please Call Toyota at the 800 # and file a complaint. This is HORRIBLE that it would do that at all.

Do you have the rest of the number handy?

Here's the various ways you can contact Toyota.

IMO, it's a waste of time. But there's nothing to lose other than time. I emailed them once, they'll give you a case number and some generic copy and paste response. Then maybe you'll get a survey asking you to rate about their response.

I just got back from being away for 4 months to find about a 2 foot crack on my dashboard. It starts at the very end of the dash on the driver side and follows the curve of the dash going over the guages right over the radio/ac vents area. It has been parked in the sun in FL, but it was covered, and the windows are tinted 20%. basically it is a big bummer since the car still looks pretty new, this is by far the worst damage to my car yet.

Same here, exactly.

I just noticed yesterday that my dash is cracked in the same exact way that your's is (starts at the very end of the dash on the driver side and follows the curve of the dash going over the guages right over the radio/ac vents area). My 4Runner is always garage kept and never sits out in the direct sunlight. This is so weird that so many dashes are cracking. Makes me very disappointed in Toyota's quality control. My 4Runner is in mint condition other than this.
