Cracked brake line

Had the brake rotor off checking the bearings. Hard line to the front driver caliper cracked right next to the fitting and leaked. Trying to bend up a piece of replacement line right now, but does anyone know if you can buy an exact replacement anywhere? Safe just to bleed the fronts once I've got the line reinstalled?

Also... I put these replacement bearings on last fall when replacing the rotors. In COLD weather (-10 or below, which happened WAY TOO MUCH last winter), my front bearings would make a rubbing sound for the first quarter mile or so until they warmed up. Don't know how else to describe it but this only happened after I put the replacements in - anyone heard of that? Bearings look fine and wheels turned easily.

As long as you can flare the ends of a new line correctly, there's no reason to not make your own line. Grab a small bender and flare tool and you'll be okay to make your own line.

As for the bearing, maybe the grease was cold/frozen and it took it a second to move around. As long as the noise went away and nothing is broken... you're good!

I think you can still buy direct replacements from the dealer.

If you make your own, make sure the tool will do double flares.
And FWIW, the Harbor Freight flaring set is pretty lame.

I think I got my set from napa, for a bender and flare tool I think I paid about $30 for them.

Make sure you put the fittings on BEFORE you make the second flare.

I had a hard line for the rear brake (driver's side) rust through. I was able to get the right part from the following link.

Autozone had a flared piece 10" or so that just needed bending to fit.

Thanks all for the help so far taking care of some of the maintenance. Just finished a month long 5000+ mile road trip pulling a 1500lb trailer without a problem. Proud of the old rust bucket. During one of my oil changes I asked that they lubricate the driveshaft / u-joints. Since about that time I have noticed what I would describe as a grinding noise coming from the front end between 10 and 15 mph. Anything faster and it cuts out. This was some time ago and no problems have surfaced at least that I'm aware of. Can try and post a video of that is too vague... Sounds like from around the front differential maybe but that's just a guess.

It sounds as if something is out of round, like a bad tire. Look to see if any wheel weights have fallen off. Also check to see if there is a rock, screw, etc. lodged in the tire itself.

Crawl under and check to make sure there is a little grease coming out of the joint.

You can jack up the front and move the tire up and down to see how much play there is in the bearings. But I'd bet this isn't the root of the problem.
