Cracked Side Mirror Housing - suggestions?

A few weeks ago I discovered that someone had clipped my driver-side mirror, and cracked the housing, it's now missing a few small chips. Mirror works fine power-wise and still heats up OK. Just got off the phone with body shop and they're saying that they can't order just the housing, has to be the entire assembly. To the tune of $275+. Ouch. The only damage is to the plastic cover/housing, so I'm looking for advice from anyone who's run into this before?

Do you just need #4 or parts of the #1?
#4 looks to be cheap whereas #1 is the whole unit. (Still cheaper than your quote)
Take a look at the diagram and see if these will match with that cracked housing...

just the cover illustrated #4. Will talk to the parts guys at my local dealership myself and see what they say.

You should just need # 4 in the diagram and just transfer the guts from your broken mirror. Same thing happened to me in my previous car. A bit of a pain but its defiantly doable.

Go to the dealership or order from toyotapartsales.com. I ordered one, I think it was like $50, it just pops off. Cracked mine while wheeling.

brought to dealership for an unrelated water leak into the cabin. Was told by service advisor that the housing cannot be ordered by itself, I'd need the entire assembly. Going to call a few others.

Look at the site I posted, its the first couple ones listed for $40, thats cheaper than what the dealer will charge you.

For the parts diagram that I have for a Limited model the body color painted mirror cover is part# 879450E020 and is supplied pre-painted for $53.90. The flat black area around the mirror is in fact part of the assembly for $224.80. Hopefully that helps a little.

A little JB Weld should take care of it.
