Cracked the plastic piece under bumper.

Hit a dog and the plastic piece under bumper that extends down cracked. Dealer wants around $200 to fix. I was wondering if there is an aftermarket part that I could replace it with to strengthen that area.

Which piece exactly? Small black lip?

Do you have pictures?

It is the unpainted plastic piece that extends off bumper. It has some vents in it for airflow. Best I can describe it I can get some pics up tomorrow.

I do not 4x4 in extreme conditions the worst is muddy areas so I do not need anything beefy!

Looks like it is part 11 under the front bumper diagram. Can I order it and take it to the dealer.

You would have to call them and request a quote on labor.

Another option is to order the part and call up a local body shop and ask how much for them to install it.

But again, I dont know what it's function is. It got in the way for me once when I needed to get towed (rescued off road) but I say tow because you don't off road.

I now have just an open area where that plastic piece was and it's fine.

I think it's just part of the LE/SR5 molding, so looks more than functionality. I think.

Agree it's not needed. But if you really hate dogs that much you can order and install it yourself. I think it's only held on by one screw. Check the repair manual to confirm.

a lot of people with limited's and sr5's remove that piece.. you might find one on here cheaper.. and you should be able to do it yourself

I would just remove it. Not worth replacing imo.
