Crazy VIP RS3000 on Crack

Love the keyless entry on the VIP RS3000, but I think I can do without the crazy-ass alarm part!

Sometimes it just freaks out and starts doing weird stuff like only flashing the lights instead of the normal beep+lights. Or it will unlock and beep+lights...then promptly sound the alarm when I open the door...(thereby making me feel like a complete ass in a busy parking lot).

Other times it will sound the long obnoxious beep like when you try to arm it when there is a door open...yet there is no door open. Of course the beep is almost painfully loud—wish it had a volume control.

It's times like these that I've come to stand in fear/confusion while wondering what the beast is going to do next; do I push the button again, open a door....hide!?! I'm usualy greeted with the alarm no matter what I do.

Sometimes I feel like the truck is just f***ing with me cause it can. :shocked:

Maybe the main box is bad. I am surprised your peizo beeper is still working. They would usually die after 7-8 years. It may be on its way out and working when it feels like. It's Floyd Bell part number M-80W if you are looking to replace. There is also a way to fully disable the beep in the RS3000 manual which you can find on google. There are a bunch of settings you can adjust on the RS3000.

I think the beeper survived because the in-laws never used it.

They gave me the key fob in a ziplock bag....in pieces. They were fine using a key to unlock.

I MacGyvered the fob back together with some super glue and a black zip-tie. Worked great the first week or so then the last couple have been getting progressively worse.

I'll look for the manual and the settings. Thx!

Yep, those original RS3000 remotes are super weak. Mine was already breaking when it was less than 4 years old. If you drop them they will most likely break. If you try to buy them new from Toyota you will find that they superseded that part with a newer, more durable remote. It is pricey, though.

Instead, I spent $15 dollars on ebay and got a universal remote case that was programmed to work with the RS3000. The range is fantastic and it has been very durable. Only downside is that you only use one out of the four buttons on the remote which is kind of goofy. However, I am willing to live with that, It doesn't hurt as much to see the $15 ebay remote fall on the ground by accident vs. the $150+ OEM remote which works that same. My OCD will eventually cave in making me purchase the OEM part but for now I will highly recommend the ebay remote. I believe the company is called "MyKeylessRemote". Great customer service as well.

My beeper has a mind of it's own. Sometimes it beeps when you lock it, sometimes it doesn't. The lights always flash for confirmation, but that beeper is off a little. Sometimes I like when it doesn't beep, for a more stealthy lock sequence

There is a glass breakage sensor and may be other things. It has a alarm memory too I think and that may be why it acts differently when you turn off alarm. If you have the book for it, it will explain it.

Yup, sounds like a bad piezo beeper. You can disable to beep. I have mine disabled as well but it's because I haven't replaced the piezo yet. I like the beep. It sounds "modern".
