Appreciate it Timberland!
I like your android head unit and am wanting to install one in my vehicle. Do you have the JBL system or do you know if it works with one?
The only real addition I've done lately is adding in a Chinese (Joying) Android HU, JY-TQ123 ($300 PRIME shipping). I preferred this model as it exactly fits the OEM opening size (~200mmx100mm) and I HATE the look of most filler pieces i've seen that go into the universal double-din installs.
I've only recently been turned on to these but they sounded awesome from what little research i've done if you can deal with a more DIY trouble shooting side involved in little to no customer support. Having said that, I bought mine specifically from Joying-USA on Amazon and the POC there has been very response in emailed questions. Supposedly comes with a 2 year warranty and it can be shipped back to NY (way better than China like the others). But really, for $300, I'm not expecting this thing to be perfect given all the awesome features it has. It can be flashed with customer firmware, ROMS, etc. Love it so far and it looks OEM. The install was a complete plug in play as this version comes with the Toyota specific ISO hookups and the steering wheel controls work with no additional adapters. Also, no parking break tap to bypass the safety either (still don't advise watching Netflix while driving).
I have a few questions for you regarding your android Head Unit:
Does it have 1gb or 2gb of RAM?
If 1gb, is that enough or should I pay an extra $35 for the 2gb?
Is the extra 2gb worth $35.
Do you have the JBL system?
If so did you have to purchase the special JBL harness?
I am wanting to get a Joying android head unit and I have the JBL system in my vehicle. Joying said that I would need this harness for the install, however by looking at the photos of the harness it looks like that grey plug would be the only thing plugged into the vehicle. There are three harnesses total coming from the vehicle so that would leave 2 empty. I feel that I would need another harness to get steering wheel controls to work. This stuff is confusing.
Not at the moment but I can take a few when I get back home. Anything in particular you want to see? Currently got my passenger door card and A-pillars pulled to figure out better door bracing/deadoning so could get a shot of the 9s if you wanted those.Do you have any pictures of how your interior looks?
The door panels, stuff like that. Mine have a few stains from over the years so I'm curious how they look all black. Not at the moment but I can take a few when I get back home. The interior is all blacked out now since I've spray dyed my carpet black. Had it all pulled out for the audio install so it was super easy. Anything in particular you want to see?

Gotcha. No problem man, I'll snap some when I get back in town tomorrow or Monday. My interior was the same way and I can tell you it was a massive improvement imo, especially the carpet. The door panels, stuff like that. Mine have a few stains from over the years so I'm curious how they look all black.
Looks very nice! What paint did you use? Here they are. Inside is a mess right now as I'm testing out locations for my midrange speakers. You can see a few areas where I've scrapes them hard but hasn't been touched up at all in a year so pretty good IMO. Detail and finish of faux-leather surface of plastic is retained to with the lighter coats.
