crud in 80k oil filter housing

I change oil every 10k, mobil 1x Oe filters. This check revealed some dirt looking crud in the filter folds and in housing as pictured. She runs fine and have had no issues. I did do spark plugs within the last oil change but that's about it. Didn't really seem to draw to magnet and when squished in fingers it just looked like grit or dirt but quite a bit in there so I guess the filter was doing its job. any ideas what cause this? I'm going to do next change at 85k i guess to examine

You should grab a sample and possibly send it in to one of the analysis companies.
May have to contact them beforehand.

is that bypass valve in the bottom closing and opening ok?

Yes the cap was on and valve functions, there was no leakage of oil until it was depressed with the little plastic part. I Thought about doing an analysis but had no kit. I ordered one will definitely send it off next time.
I did see someone on reddit posted a similar pic in the past but like most of the posts on reddit it was useless nonsense bots

How long does it take you to reach 10K miles? 6months, ???

need to check on air filter brand, it was replaced at last oil change too and looks pretty clean still.. Probably takes closer to a year to reach 10k maybe 10-11 months. just put a fumoto valve on since protected by skid plate so I will probably grab a sample when the oil sample kit arrives

-Check the air intake system for leaks, bad seals, holes, etc. Everything; air box, resonator, all tubes and connections, etc. If your air filter looks good, and dirt is suddenly showing up in your oil, it is logically getting in somewhere on the other side of the filter. Typically you'd think it would throw a code, but maybe not. It is worth checking.

-As you indicated you are doing, get a UOA. It could verify if that is in fact dirt with the silicone level I would think or if it is maybe something else going on.

-If all the above looks good and doesn't lead to other things to check or solutions, back off to 5k oci's. I suggest doing that regardless, but to each his own.

Thanks, everything looks good from what I can tell on air filter side. I'm going to put 1k or so miles on this new oil and then send it off, Should be plenty of time to accumulate whatever the issue was. I will follow up with results
