Curious - is it possible to swap in an FJ locking rear diff?

The 4Runner and FJ Cruiser are basically the same vehicle, so has anyone heard of a T4R running the factory locking rear differential from an FJ? Might be a cost effective way of getting more offroad capability.

The rear locker was also offered in some 4th gens, correct me if I am wrong but I believe we share diffs with the FJ. From what I've read, some irreversible housing modifications are necessary to complete the swap from open 3rd to locked. It sounds like a lot of the guys one these boards are electing to go with an ARB. I am still researching and saving pennies for lockers however and would love to see what you learn.

I'm picturing (in my optimistic way) obtaining a complete FJ rear differential and spending a weekend swapping it into my T4R. Of course, it's the details that would kill me, like brake line and wiring bracket issues, if they exist. I suppose a good first step would be to crawl under an FJ and document all the essentials such as flange-to-flange dimensions, bracket locations, etc. and compare them to my T4R.

An ARB locker starts looking pretty good...
