The underside of the beanbag has a grippy material so it won't slide around or off the dash. It works great and I'd recommend it (if you don't want to leave the suction mount on the windshield possibly indicating to thieves the nav might be hidden in the car or if your state, like CA, doesn't allow mounting anything on the windshield).

Not sure about the other models. On the 660, the cigarette lighter cord plugs into the base that clips on the back under the antenna. That clip base pops off of the windshield suction mount and is transferred to the bean bag. The supplied cigarette charger does not use the mini-USB plug that the AC adapter uses.

Well, I borrowed from the original posters idea and made my own. Went to the hardware store and bought an aluminum door kick panel for 7.00, then went to ebay and ordered a cheap vent mount to get the "ball". I didn't want to cut my original. I paid 5.00 for the vent mount and cut the ball off using a hack saw. I then cut the aluminum plate with a saber saw with a metal blade and shaped it using a vise and rubber hammer and then painted it. It could use some sanding, and another coat of paint, but it will do for now. Here is how it turned out.

What does it look like with the cord attached? I have the cord running everywhere. Can you post a pic with the cord?

I have another 12v outlet that I installed specifically for the garmin. I borrowed that idea from another poster here on this site as well. But I basically used cable routing stickys that you can buy from home depot and then used automotive two sided tape, because it's stronger to stick them to the dash. I only use my garmin about once a year on trips, so this works fine for me.

Mine is in the same position but i didn't need a bracket. I just put hand lotion on the suction cup and it sticks right on the spot. Hasn't fallen yet so far.
