Custom leather seats on Sports Ed?

About to purchase a Sports Ed. 4Runner and I would like to have after-market leather seats installed in the vehicle. One of my local dealers is offering to have it done. They are using a company called Classic soft Trim and charge about $1300 for everything.

Does anybody know about the quality about after-market leather seats? Is it about the same quality as the factory installed (e.g. on Limited Ed) seats?

PS CSTrim also has a leather option where they imbed the 'TRD' logo on the seats which, I was told, looks awesome!

I thought I'd use the same thread for another ques that I had........ does the Sports Ed 4Runner come with a 'outside temperature' gauge as well? I checked the e-brochure but that feature is not listed.

Classic Soft Trim is supposed to be one of the highest quality aftermarket leather seat companies. I've been looking into getting another set of leather covers for my car and so far, I'm liking what I see.

Do a search for TRD leather kit, there was a member who got the this installed not too long ago.

Yes, the 4Runner comes with an outside temperature gauge in the center display right below the stereo.
 
How interesting! I am buying a sport edition too and is having the dealer put in aftermarket leather for me. They are also using Classic Soft Trim. According to my sales person, all the dealers in town use Classic Soft Trim. One thing though, they want me to buy the 4runner before they'll have the leather installed. Is that the same way for you?
 
More than likely they want to make sure you own the truck before installing the leather. What if you backed out of the deal and the leather was already installed? They'd have a truck that would be harder for them to sell...
 
The leather is hard, but otherwise it looked very nice. Check out the two tone wood steering wheel which lists for $450.

If you dont' mind me asking, how much did it run you to get your interior done. I'm in limbo between getting the leather put in on my 04Sport vs. getting navi... I think I'll go for the leather first, but can't decide between Katzkin and Classic Soft Trim. I guess since great things have been said about both, it will come down to cost.

hey snomobo. I am the guy that had the classic soft trim leather install done as well as DVD's in the headrest. Let me say go for the leather. The classic soft trim leather fit and finish is first rate. I had to re-do what the install shop did after their install becasue I am anal like that. basically cleaned up alot of their work underneath the seat and around hinges etc.. It really transformed the truck. Navi is nice but who doesn't know where they are going anymore?

I will post new pics soon after all the re-work and new digital camera. Look for my thread it has first pics of the leather install.

I paid $1095 installed here in Phoenix for the kit. But looking back I probably could have done it myself as everything zipped on . You will have to cut the cloth out though.

If you are careful enough, you don't need to cut out the cloth. Although, I think the headrest cloth may need to be unavoidably cut.

Anyways, I have Custom Soft Trim leather in mine. Very comfortable, and imo, more comfortable than the stock leather in the Limited's. The quality has been great so far.
 
I got my '04 Sport done by Classic Soft Trim. I wanted leather but not the charcoal gray. Dark leather + Texas summer = burned bottom! I matched the lighter gray that goes in the Limited. It turned out great!

I checked with the local autorized distributor/installer for Classic Soft Trim here is SW Missouri where most things are normally cheaper. They wanted $1450 to install these after-market seats. I told the guy that in other parts of the country CSTrim did the install on 4runners for a total of $800. He checked with the owner and $1450 was the best he could do. They did ask if I was going through a dealer or was it for me direct. I figure they had a better price for the dealers. But they would reather lose the business then lower the price.

What did you pay in Texas? and was it from a authorized Classic Soft Trim dealer? I got the one I talked too off Classic Soft Trims website.
 
I'm probably going to add aftermarket leather to my Sport soon, but I'm undecided on the color.

What color leather would look best???
