custom long travel??

so me and a buddy of mine have been contemplating getting an extra set of stock LCA's and chopping them up to make them longer, and we've got everything figured out except 1 big problem, what to do about axle shafts?

so my big question is, is there a longer axle shaft that can be installed? either out of a different vehicle or bought?

Tundra axles are 3.5 inches longer. Thats what TC and Camburg use for their +3.5 LT kits.

I was looking at doing this as well but it didn't really looks like there was a simple way to extend the stock LCA's. It may be possible but i think it would be easier to just build a completely new LCA. Not to mention, i bet it would be way stronger too.

If it uses the same front differential, yeah. 86-95 4Runners share a front diff with the t100, so that's what they use when they want longer CV axles for long travel setups.

The other option would be to call a company like RCV and have them custom made. If you do that, you have way too much money.

haha yea if i could afford to get custom axle shafts i wouldnt be figuring out how to do my own long arm, bwahaha would be nice though

im pretty sure its the 1st gen the same one we steal brakes from.
i know that broker on this site has the camburg kit and is running tundra axles.

If the tundra axles are longer and work can we assume the tundra control arms are longer too? Could they be made to work? Just throwing out ideas...

But seriously. The control arms are the same size as the 4runner. The frames are much wider. Thus why the V8 looks small in the engine bay.

Ill second with what singtoe is saying that the arms are the same length just the frame is much wider. The axles are wider on the 1st gen tundras to accommodate the extra frame width. Normally I just go to the junk yard and ask if they have any 1st gen tundras and grab the axles. Haven't found one that that didn't fit yet and I have about 5 now.
